I hope this is the appropriate place to post this question. I did look at other forums before asking this question, but it seems unlikely that nobody else has experienced this problem, so apologize if the answer lies somewhere else in the forum. If so, please let me know.
I spent A LOT of time trying to figure this out on my own, without any luck. So, here is the issue:
I set up my subsonic account the first time with essentially no problems. It set it up automatically and issued my requested FriendlyName. But, within 24 hours I was unable to access my account except from the local machine. What I mean by that is whereas I was able to logon remotely with another machine or device using the FriendlyName, that no longer worked.
I followed instructions the were provided by the detailed information through the subsonic technical guide and similar sources. Ultimately I was able to successfully set everything up. However, any FriendlyName I try, including both the original and other names attempted when the original one quit working, no longer work. They either time out, or simply take me to subsonic's main webpage.
I suspected some type of issue with a cookie, etc. but I attempted access from other machines and get the same result. What appears most relevant to me is that I can tell that the FriendlyName points to an IP address that is different from the external IP address used by my router. The IP address that comes up when I use the FriendlyName is one associated with a Lacie Big Disk, which has an IP address of 10.208.75.100. If you google that IP and Lacie Big Disk, for some reason that external hard drive is treated as a network. I would note that I first had subsonic set up the original port forwarding, and friendly name assignment. I suspect that it all quit working when the Lacie Big Disk IP address somehow got tied or assigned to my subsonic friendly name.
Bottom line, even though I can successfully access my machine (and subsonic's control panel, player, etc) and it all works, it only does so if I input into the browser or another device (both Android X and iPad work) fine) the actual IP address of my routher.
Question is, how do I make the IP address that works associated with the FriendlyName I obtain from subsonic.org
I hope that is adequate to frame the question. Thank you very much if you can assist with this issue.
