Deleting music

Postby weexpectedthis » Mon Nov 07, 2011 6:48 pm

Am I blind or is there no way to delete music? If I'm logged in as the admin shouldn't there be some facility to delete a song or two?

Delete from what? :?
If you mean the playlist then click on the X (In most themes)
Everyone is entitled to be stupid, Image but some abuse the privilege!

Due to the confusion from too many genres of music, we have decided to put both country music and rap music into the genre of Crap music.

I think he means delete it from the hard drive, not from the playlist.

i would appreciate this functionality too ! Evertime i want to tidyup my musik-collection i have to logn on my ftp-server / server itself via rdp and delete the files. It 'll be much easyer if i could do that in the webinterface of subsonic
Cloud Computing .... i made my own cloud !

To add to this maybe a music reorg function so folders and music can be organized within the interface on your storage drives and devices.
A "recycle bin" would be good to move files to before you commit the delete.

Enhance the upload tool to allow section of existing folders or albums/artists/genre etc.

Post ideas like this in the feature requests section: viewforum.php?f=3

Wow, this is why I love Subsonic - there's no feature to modify or delete existing music. I have to say I would not like this feature at all. Not being able to do this is what makes Subsonic so secure to the outside world - even if someone gets into Subsonic, they still can't delete anything without root access....

I totally agree.
If that was to be implemented a much stronger log in and verification system would need to be in place.
General media management such as tag manipulation, file renaming, deleting etc should be left to applications more suited such as Winamp. Foobar or Mediamonkey.
However a track rating within SS (see http://forum.subsonic.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=8448) which could be read by external players/organisers would be an advantage.

Let SS do what it does best and enhance those features.

I have my subsonic running on a server in my basement, .....I "share" the music folder with my other desktop so I can easily drag and drop add/subtract/retag etc.... any song/album I want......

not sure if you have your server local or not, but if it is, thats the way to do it :)

I know this is an old topic but I've accidentally added duplicate songs/albums to Subsonic. It would be nice if there was a way to get rid of them without having to go through the backend.
