There are bound to be individual songs you don't like mixed in with those you do, even if it's a "Greatest Hits" album.

With the possibility of 20 some individual songs on an album, rating an album is pretty much useless.
There are bound to be individual songs you don't like mixed in with those you do, even if it's a "Greatest Hits" album.
Please add individual song ratings.

Like many people before me; I would really like this function aswell.
And if it would directly rate the file that would be even better. So other programs (like Winamp) would read the rate aswell.
Is there any idea if and when this would be available?

Rate individual songs, per user. Add rating ability to the clients (apps). If that were possible, I might even attempt to try and write a ratings importer from iTunes.
Album ratings could be calculated by averaging the ratings of songs in that album (don't include unrated songs in the average).

Even something as simple as a thumbs up/down system like Pandora would be useful. I would love to be able to make a dynamic playlist based on rating, genre, etc.

This is the missing feature which is keeping me from abandoning Winamp and moving completely to Subsonic. I would donate, too, if this feature were added.
Why? Because iTunes and Winamp and other programs support Star ratings and people have a huge amount of time invested in these ratings.
PLEASE implement this feature.
