No apps can access subsonic server

Postby sam1am » Fri Dec 16, 2011 7:02 pm

For soe reason suddenly no apps can access my subsonic server. It may have happened with the most recent update (build 2585). I've tried the Android app on two phones and using subair on the desktop. Connection seems to just time out.

Anyone else run into this or have any ideas? Subsonic is running on an Ubuntu server if that helps. I can still access and use the web interface.

Can you reach it from another device in the LAN? Assuming you're using private IPs on a LAN, here.

For instance, I have my [user].subsonic.org URL, that will reach my SS server using a public IP:port, or internally, I can use my SS server's private IP, 10.0.0.xxx:port. Most private IPs in home environments will be 192.168.0.xxx, where xxx is a number from 1 to 254.

Are you trying the IP address, or the [user].subsonic.org address?

I would also check that your SS install is still registered.
The API only works for the registered versions once the 30 day trial expires.

I'm actually accessing the server from outside using the outside IP address and I have the port forwarded to my box. This is a setup I've had for a long time.

The weird thing is that when I enter my credentials into the android app and his test connection, it reports the connection is okay. If I enter the wrong username or change the server address so it is wrong, I get an error. So it IS talking to subsonic, it's just erroring out as soon as I try to do anything.

I have entered a registration code, but I don't see any way to go see if I currently have a valid one installed or what the status is. It doesn't seem to appear anywhere.

Yep thats true (I believe its on Sindre's TODO list)
I think you get a donate tab on the home page and also your subsonic.org address will stop working if it thinks its not registered.

Oddly it began working again as I clicked through all the settings pages again. I wonder if it thought it wasn't registered and I triggered something by going through all the admin pages...? It hasn't worked for days so it can't just be a coincidence that it just started working again, can it?

I kept having issues with subair and subsonic for android not being able to connect, as well as the web interface dropping out and videos disconnecting and having issues all the time. I ended up rolling back to 4.5 and everything seems to work fine again. I think 4.6 has some bugs, and judging by the other posts in here I don't think I'm the only one.
