Subsonic Control Panel doesnt stop on windows shutdown [R]

Hello everybody!!!

I have subsonic 4.6 set up on a windows xp sp3 machine and everytime I shutdown the system Subsonic Control Panel refuses to stop.

Can any one point me to the reason(s) that may be behind this issue?

Are you saying the SS control panel is preventing Windows from shutting down

Are you getting an error message from Windows? if so what is it?

It's the "End of Program" window.

It shows an java icon at its tittle bar. It refers to Subsonic Control Panel and it says the usual "This program is not responding(...)"

FWIW, I just installed 4.6 on an XPPro machine, and it exhibits this same behaviour. Requires a kill, and sometimes a Ctr-Alt-Del to get it to shut down. Fortunately I want to keep this machine on most of the time!

So It must be some problem with our set up or with subsonic...

Could anyone shed some insight into this please?

FYI
I just did a shutdown test on WHS server 2003 which is sort of XP based and shut down was no problem
That was with 4.6 SS - I didnt think any process could ignore the shutdown kill command - oh! well live and learn

What version of java do you have.
Also check that you haven't got any java updates waiting "in the wings" to be installed.
From experience (but not with SS) I know that can cause a problem.

I am having the same problem. I am running Windows XP Home (Java Version 1.6.0_29 from Sun Microsystems Inc.). I don't think I have any Java updates waiting, but I do see that the java version could be updated to 1.7. So I will try that. In my case, I have two administrator profiles on the computer. Subsonic runs fine and when I log out of mine, it closes fine. However, when I log out of the other one, that is the only time the End Programs window comes up. It is 100% of the time on the other profile. I will write back about the effectiveness of the Java update, but otherwise I have no idea what it could be.

Updating Java seemed to correct the problem for me.

I too updated my JRE to 7u2 and it solved the problem!

Excellent, this worked for me as well. Was having this issue on one of my installations of subsonic but hadnt figured out why.
