Subsonic starts but quit immediately...

Thank you :)

I'm experiencing very slow speeds when connecting outside of my network. I had previously run Subsonic on my laptop which had an SMB share to FreeNAS and everything ran smoothly. Now that I'm running Subsonic on the actually FreeNAS system it is so slow I can't even use it. Any advice or pointers (related to either Subsonic or FreeNAS as I can't determine the root cause of the slowness) would be greatly appreciated.

After I rebooted the FreeNAS server the directory /var/subsonic is gone.
What did I do wrong?

I've the same Problem on the newest FreeNAS 0.7.2.5872

during the installation everything seems right (except for lame but installed it from an other mirror) but when i try to start it with
"/var/subsonic/standalone/subsonic.sh" i'll get only : "subsonic.sh: Command not found." even when im going to the direcotory and typing in "subsonic.sh" (but there is the file here)

in /var/subsonic/subsonic_sh.log
i find: "Unable to access jarfile subsonic-booter-jar-with-dependencies.jar"

what could be the problem? i tried to give all of them chmod 777 rights

@netadmin08
i guess you have an embedded FreeNAS image

Has anyone successfully gotten Subsonic installed on FreeNAS 8? Last piece of the puzzle before I migrate.

I have a spare box that I will be trying to install the latest FreeNAS(8) as well as the latest SubSonic (4.5) and will see how that goes.

Will post notes and see what I get done. May not been until next weekend before I get some time to work on it though unless things go ok at work and I get time in the evenings to work on it.

Going to Hawaii in a few weeks and want to have some music streaming and maybe some videos. lol!

I get the same thing. I'm logged into a SSH shell as root. On freenas in the SSH settings I have "permit root login" checked. I don't know what the problem is.

I'm trying to install Subsonic on a FreeNAS 8.03. Anybody have any success so far and if so, what steps/files do I need? I've tried multiple variations of files but to no avail. I'm not very experienced in FreeBSD so I'm sure I'm missing something. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

hi.
i follow all your instructions to install subsonic on a freenas machine. all done without errors, and it works fine with a web player playback.
problem comes using it on jukebox mode. no sound from the audio card. and i tried with 3 audio devices, sound blaster live, sound blaster live 5.1 and embedded card of and old socket 370 motherboard with via chipset.
in jukebox mode the subsonic log tell me:

[3/4/12 8:38:13 PM GMT] DEBUG TranscodeInputStream Starting transcoder: [/var/subsonic/transcode/ffmpeg] [-ss] [0] [-i] [/mnt/DATA/Alfa - Beta.mp3] [-v] [0] [-f] [au] [-]
[3/4/12 8:38:13 PM GMT] WARN TranscodingService Failed to transcode /mnt/DATA/Alfa - Beta.mp3. Using original.
[3/4/12 8:38:13 PM GMT] ERROR JukeboxService Error in jukebox: javax.sound.sampled.UnsupportedAudioFileException: file is not a supported file type

do you have some help for me? i tried editing loader.conf, enabling sound module, but nothing changed. an important step would be for me to be sure the audio card is recognized from subsonic.
thank you.
