Ok. Maybe this will shed some light. This is how my subsonic server is connected via dsl.

Phone line to DSL modem.
Modem to router.
The modem is set to bridge, and the router takes care of the PPPoE authentication.
The router gets its public facing IP address from the ISP.
The router is set to port forward my subsonic port to my subsonic server's IP address.

I also have my router take care of updating my dynamic dns records.

If my subsonic server is listening on port 80 (web) and its IP address is 192.168.1.101, then the mapping would map the public IP address's port 80 to the inside facing IP address of 192.168.1.101.

Your router's internal IP address should be static, and your server's IP address should be static as well. Your global IP address (provided by your ISP) should not be static, and should instead be assigned by your ISP.

# Service Name Start Port End Port Server IP Address
1 subsonic 80 80 192.168.1.9
2 SUBSONIC 4040 4040 192.168.1.9

now it says succesfully forwarding port 80 however the red icon will not turn green and i cannot access from any computer other than this one

Good news! If your server's IP address is 192.168.1.9, then your port mappings are spot on!

Try accessing your server using a different computer on the same network as your server using the address 192.168.1.9.

If that doesn't work then you are most probably having a firewall issue.

Everyone is entitled to be stupid, Image but some abuse the privilege!

Due to the confusion from too many genres of music, we have decided to put both country music and rap music into the genre of Crap music.
