no playback with transcoding

Postby shmish » Thu Jan 05, 2012 4:09 am

Hi,

I had a previous question about ffmpeg, but it looks like my problem is more general with all transcoding. I had tried to transcode .flac songs (and videos) using ffmpeg. Now I've also tried converting .flac using the flac and lame transcoders.

My log shows:
Code: Select all
[1/4/12 3:17:44 AM GMT]    INFO   PlaylistInputStream   admin listening to "Axis/Jeff Mills - The Purpose Maker - Casa - Axis.flac"
[1/4/12 3:17:44 AM GMT]    DEBUG   TranscodeInputStream   Starting transcoder: [/var/subsonic/transcode/flac] [--decode] [--stdout] [/mnt/Fileserver/APE/Axis/Jeff Mills - The Purpose Maker - Casa - Axis.flac]
[1/4/12 3:17:44 AM GMT]    DEBUG   TranscodeInputStream   Starting transcoder: [/var/subsonic/transcode/lame] [-b] [128] [-] [-]
[1/4/12 3:17:44 AM GMT]    DEBUG   InputStreamReaderThread   (/var/subsonic/transcode/flac)
[1/4/12 3:17:44 AM GMT]    DEBUG   InputStreamReaderThread   (/var/subsonic/transcode/flac) flac 1.2.1, Copyright (C) Josh Coalson
[1/4/12 3:17:44 AM GMT]    DEBUG   InputStreamReaderThread   (/var/subsonic/transcode/flac) flac comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY.
[1/4/12 3:17:44 AM GMT]    DEBUG   InputStreamReaderThread   (/var/subsonic/transcode/flac) welcome to redistribute it under certain conditions. Type `flac' for details.
[1/4/12 3:17:44 AM GMT]    DEBUG   InputStreamReaderThread   (/var/subsonic/transcode/flac)

The web player loads the song but the player timeline doesn't move and no sound is output.
The web player plays mp3 songs fine.
My transcoding settings are:
step1 flac --decode --stdout %s
step2 lame -b %b - -

Playback Application and version: web player
Subsonic Version: 4.6 (build 2583) – December 6, 2011
Server Version: jetty-6.1.x, java 1.6.0_07, FreeBSD (45.6 MB / 81.0 MB)
Hardware Platform: Freenas 0.72 (Freebsd 7)
Java Memory Limit: 256 I believe (I changed it in /var/subsonic/standalone/subsonic.sh)
Output from ffmpeg -i: If I type in ffmpeg -i, I get "command not found"

MY previous thread on transcoding and ffmpeg is here:

What files do you have in your transcode directory?

I dont know about your install but that seems a bit lacking :?
Although the files you have (if working?) should be all you need for what you are trying to achieve.
Here are my transcode folder contents (Windows)
Code: Select all
C:\subsonic\transcode\
faad.exe
faad_license.txt
ffmpeg.exe
ffmpeg_license.txt
flac.exe
flac_license.txt
lame.exe
lame_license.txt
mac.exe
mppdec.exe
ofr.exe
ofs.exe
oggdec.exe
oggenc2.exe
qt-faststart.exe
README.TXT
shorten.exe
wmadec.exe
wmadec_license.txt
wvunpack.exe

In step 1, you forgot to add a '-' at the end of the line. That could very well be your problem.
