With the very kind help of ytechie I have a plan of attack for my access problems. It seems that my router was not set to "static", so the rest of my evening will be devoted to figuring out how to change my router settings - which will hopefully resolve the issues I originally posted about. Thanks everyone for your help!

Well, it's almost 4 AM,but my router is now set to static and all computers and phones seem to have nice stable access to SS! Thanks again everyone!
