Postby ootuoyetahi » Thu Jan 05, 2012 9:51 pm

I do get an error that says the video has moved or access denied. After searching these forums I see someone else with the problem and he said he went to 4.6 beta2 and that resolved his issue. Has anyone had sucess playing an mkv on 4.6?

Playing mkv ok here on 4.6 final
Using default transcode settings.
(Well as fine as my little atom cpu can make it - poor thing  )

Did you check the file permissions? And what about other video files? Do they play?

Thanks for your reply.

File permissions are fine. I actually stream from this share to a wdtvlive hub using the same user/pass and it works fine. I mounted it in linux with permissions 777 just to be sure. i'd be SHOCKED if it were actually a permissions problem.

I cannot get other files to play either. Here is the output of an .AVI file:

Try replacing the transcoding settings in Settings>Transcoding for avi>flv with this line:

ffmpeg -ss %o -i %s -async 1 -b %bk -s %wx%h -ar 44100 -ac 2 -v 0 -f flv -vcodec libx264 -preset superfast -threads 0 -

I know it works for me, and I just want to rule out the easy things before going further.

Ive addached a file with some screenshots so you can see what I am looking at. The only thing I can think is that the share is on a windows 7 machine mounted to a ubuntu server. The mount seems fine, has the correct permissions, but maybe it doesnt like it.

There is a similar post http://forum.subsonic.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=8536&p=35424&hilit=video+not+found+or+access+denied#p35424 and they seem to be having the same problem. I have tried everything in that post except for going to 4.6 beta2.

Do you have any other suggestions?

I've seen it before. Sometimes ffmpeg doesn't like the original encoding of the video, especially DivX. I just delete them and watch them somewhere else. There aren't that many that have problems.

I've tried one .mkv file ans one .avi file and have the same result. 0-2 are not odds I like lol.

.mp3s do work. I haven't tried any other audio format but I will test this today and report back my results.

Thanks to everyone for trying to help me figure this out.

has anyone had any luck? I am trying to install 4.6 on freenas 7.2, I can get the audio to work fine, but videos don't seem to work. Same issue as above.

Video playback can be tricky. I have some files that won't play with the standard 4.6 installation that will play if I put the latest ffmpeg.exe build into the transcode directory. All ffmpeg builds are not alike. I've found similar issues with getting flac and mp3 to ogg transcoding to work for use on mobile devices.

The easiest way to go is to just reformat video into mp4 and turn off transcoding altogether.
