Remember Me function

Postby mchyde » Mon Jan 09, 2012 6:42 am

How do I get the "Remember Me" function to work? I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate. It hasn't worked for any version of Windows or any version of Subsonic.

Thanks!

Cookies must be enabled for it to work. What browser are you using with Subsonic?

I've tried it with Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Google Chrome.

So you click "Remember Me" and it doesn't remember you? Obviously you can't be using private browsing, and your cookies must be enabled. That's all there is to it. Oh, and if you clear out your browser cache, it will need to re-authenticate. :?

Hi,
Don't know if this is of any help.
I created a shortcut to my subsonic -server like this:
http://myserver.subsonic.org/login.view?user=subuser&password=MySecret
Obviously you need to change what is in bold to match your settings.
This way you don't have to retype username and password every time you log in to Subsonic.
There's a nifty little program called Shortcut http://www.optimumx.com/downloads.html#Shortcut which you can use to create an encrypted shortcut.
This prevents anyone from reading your username and password in the shortcut.

That's the method I use to login - thanks for the tip about the encrypted link :)

Due to the confusion from too many genres of music, we have decided to put both country music and rap music into the genre of Crap music.

Thanks.
If you want to use that program to create a link then the easiest way is this commandline:
Shortcut.exe /f:"C:\Users\Yourname\Desktop\Subsonic.lnk" /A:c /t:"http://YOURSERVER.subsonic.org/login.view?user=YOURNAME&password=YOURPASSWORD&encryption=plain" /I:%SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll,168 /R:3
You can leave out the C:\Users\Yourname\Desktop\-bit, if you want the shortcut to be created in the folder where Shorcut.exe is.
I found that the easiest way is to copy and paste this commandline in notepad and save it as run.bat in the same folder as where Shortcut.exe resides.

That's it.
You could even write a slightly more complex batchfile if you want to create links for several users.
Excuse me for my Dutch-English, but It's not my native language.
