How to show "now playing" as horizontal banner? [SOLVED]

Postby cleanerz » Sat Jan 28, 2012 1:33 pm

Hi, i want to move the "now playing" display to the bottom in a horizontal scrolling box.

I dont understand the loop pattern completly. I tried different sets of tables and div. But alway end up with vertical listing.

Help please :D

in a bottom frame. i have made another frameset for subsonic. with the player and playlist on the right.
"now playing" is moved to the bottom frame.
The problem is not to position it, the problem is to get horizontal arrangement!

I can't really help you without seeing the setup and the code behind it. I know how to make it horizontal; the entire table has to be rearranged. If I can somehow get a look at your new setup, I'll see what I can do. :)

<frameset rows="*,0" border="0" framespacing="0" frameborder="0">

<frameset cols="200,100%,400" border="0" framespacing="0" frameborder="0" id="main2player">

<frame name="left" src="left.view?" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" scrolling="auto">

<frameset rows="60,100%,120" border="0" framespacing="0" frameborder="0">

<frame name="top" src="top.view?" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" scrolling="auto">

<frame name="main" src="home.view?" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" scrolling="auto">

<frame name="bottom" src="right.view?" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" scrolling="auto">

</frameset>

<frame name="playlist" src="playlist.view?" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" scrolling="auto">

</frameset>

<frame name="hidden" frameborder="0" noresize>

</frameset>

<frame name="bottom" src="right.view?" !!!!!!!

OK. In right.jsp, AJAX is used to dynamically create the now playing table. You're gonna need to read up a little on tables. Once you read up, go ahead and start editing right.jsp. The table needs to be reformatted.

Also, can you post your right.jsp after you tried modifying it?

...well, that doesnt help at all.

as i said (first post), i already tried different sets off table structure and div containers.

the problem seems to be the loop. it doesnt matter how the table is build! which means i would have to learn java and ajax.

but dude, the thing is, im not asking here for help, so someone tells me that i can learn it by my self.
and if i a had the time to do so, i wouldn´t need that advise. :roll:

i know there are pros out there who can solve this in seconds
and often in a forum like this these pros love to help someone like me.

so if you know how to do it (as you said) and want to help... i will appreciate it very much. :wink:

Sorry, i am sure u ment well!

OK. Chill. If you want my help, please post your right.jsp after modification.

I think what's going on is that you aren't editing the part of the code that rewrites the container.

AJAX gets people really scared, but all it's doing is dynamically rewriting the contents of the page. I know it sounds complicated, but you will quickly see that it is fairly simple. :)

sorry, i think u dont get me.

i have tried at least 20 different table and div sets. u want me to post them all?

and then what? u tell me what i did wrong?

It simply doesnt matter how the table is build inside the pattern. the loop will always put one table beneath the other.
try it for your self if u want, but i wont rebuild all the different table structures i tried and post them all^^

Ajax doesnt scare me, i sadly just dont have much time for my hobby. and thats music and not coding!

a friend of mine did in a minute right now.
here the correct code for right.jsp:

function getNowPlayingCallback(nowPlaying) {
var html = nowPlaying.length == 0 ? "" : "<table>";
for (var i = 0; i < nowPlaying.length; i++) {
html += "<td><table><td colspan='2' class='detail' style='padding-top:0em;white-space:nowrap'>";

if (nowPlaying[i].avatarUrl != null) {

}
html += "<b>" + nowPlaying[i].username + "</b></td>"

html += "<tr><td class='detail' style='padding-right:0.25em'>" +
"<a title='" + nowPlaying[i].tooltip + "' target='main' href='" + nowPlaying[i].albumUrl + "'><em>" +
nowPlaying[i].artist + "</em><br/>" + nowPlaying[i].title + "</a><br/>" +
"</td><td style='padding-top:0.25em'>";

if (nowPlaying[i].coverArtUrl != null) {
html += "<a title='" + nowPlaying[i].tooltip + "' target='main' href='" + nowPlaying[i].albumUrl + "''>" +
"<img src='" + nowPlaying[i].coverArtUrl + "' width='48' height='48'></a>";
}
html += "</td></tr>";

var minutesAgo = nowPlaying[i].minutesAgo;
if (minutesAgo > 4) {
html += "<tr><td class='detail' colspan='2'>" + minutesAgo + " <fmt:message key="main.minutesago"/></td></tr>";
}
html += "</table></td>"

}
html += "</table>";
$('nowPlaying').innerHTML = html;

}
