Running Vista, Stream Video?

Postby chris062689 » Tue Dec 30, 2008 2:02 pm

How do I stream video using Subsonic?
I am using Windows Vista.

Does it show up in the web browser?
Or do I have to open it in a separate program like VLC?

That doesn't really explain how I can use VLC to stream...
Care to provide any more information?

You have to tell Subsonic to use "External player with playlist" in the Player section of Settings. Now, tell windows (or linux) to associate the .m3u filetype with VLC and when you try to open up a video, subsonic will create an m3u, pass it to VLC, and VLC will start streaming your video.

Once you are logged into Subsonic, the next thing you want to do is add your music folders so that Subsonic can find them. Click on the settings button along the top, and enter the full path of to your music folder. For example, in Windows Vista the default path would be C:\Users\”your username goes here”\Music. Click Save and now you should be all set to start streaming!
