Transcoding Failing With Unusual Characters in ID3[Resolved]

Postby IceFreak2000 » Mon Jan 30, 2012 2:46 pm

When I'm streaming to a client that needs to downsample the bitrate (say a 320Mps MP3 > 192Mbps MP3) and the track title contains certain characters, the stream fails.

So, for example, I have a track with the ID3 title tag set to:

Armageddon Days (Are Here Again) [12" Remix]

This will stream perfectly if no downsampling is required, but will fail if it is. The log for a failed downsample looks like:

Code: Select all
[1/30/12 2:42:37 PM GMT] INFO PlaylistInputStream ed listening to "45 RPM- The Singles of The The\20 Armageddon Days (Are Here Again) [12- Remix].mp3"
[1/30/12 2:42:37 PM GMT] DEBUG TranscodeInputStream Starting transcoder: [c:\subsonic\transcode\lame] [-S] [-h] [--resample] [44.1] [-b] [160] [--tt] [Armageddon Days (Are Here Again) [12" Remix]] [--ta] [The The] [--tl] [45 RPM: The Singles Of The The] [E:\Public\Music\The The\45 RPM- The Singles of The The\20 Armageddon Days (Are Here Again) [12- Remix].mp3] [-]
[1/30/12 2:42:38 PM GMT] DEBUG InputStreamReaderThread (c:\subsonic\transcode\lame) c:\subsonic\transcode\lame: excess arg RPM:

Any ideas as to how this can be fixed (without having to modify my collection?)

As you have correctly surmised the problem is I believe is the " in the track title
(For some unknown reason double quotes seem to have no problem.)
I just downloaded the latest lame encoder (lame exe 3.99) and that still wont play a file with your title tag. :(

However I have been testing the SubWiji addon player which requires an additional transcode line
see viewtopic.php?f=8&t=8772
By activating that transcode for the web player it would appear to be using ffmpeg to do the resampling eg no lame reqd.
End result the file will now play with that title tag np :D

Due to the confusion from too many genres of music, we have decided to put both country music and rap music into the genre of Crap music.

That's seems to work - many thanks! Shame that the Subsonic log now fills up with loads of gumpf from ffmpeg, but I can live with that.

Cheers
