Search Not Working

Postby kinetik » Tue Jan 31, 2012 1:23 am

I recently installed Subsonic. I went into settings > search and clicked update search index now. In the log I can see messages like
"[1/30/12 9:21:11 AM CST] INFO SearchService Created search index with 110000 entries." But when I search for anything though the web interface, or through my android client I get no results returned. Any ideas on what is wrong?

Not that I can tell. I have about 110,000 songs so it looks like it indexed everything. Is there an "index complete" message that should be there?

Kind of. This is what my log looks like after indexing is complete:

Code: Select all
[1/30/12 9:51:36 PM EST]   INFO   SearchService   Created search index with 1000 entries.
[1/30/12 9:51:36 PM EST]   INFO   SearchService   Created search index with 2000 entries.
[1/30/12 9:51:36 PM EST]   INFO   SearchService   Created search index with 3000 entries.
[1/30/12 9:51:36 PM EST]   INFO   SearchService   Created search index with 4000 entries.
[1/30/12 9:51:36 PM EST]   INFO   SearchService   Created search index with 5000 entries.
[1/30/12 9:51:36 PM EST]   INFO   SearchService   Created search index with 6000 entries.
[1/30/12 9:51:36 PM EST]   INFO   SearchService   Created search index with 7000 entries.
[1/30/12 9:51:37 PM EST]   INFO   SearchService   Created search index with 8000 entries.
[1/30/12 9:51:37 PM EST]   INFO   SearchService   Created search index with 9000 entries.
[1/30/12 9:51:37 PM EST]   INFO   SearchService   Created search index with 10000 entries.
[1/30/12 9:51:37 PM EST]   INFO   SearchService   Created search index with 11000 entries.
[1/30/12 9:51:37 PM EST]   INFO   SearchService   Updating Lucene search index.
[1/30/12 9:51:38 PM EST]   INFO   SearchService   Created search index with 11299 entries.

Once it says "Updating Lucene search index", you're pretty much good to go.

I figured out the problem. I have a second media folder added that has a bunch of podcasts downloaded by MediaMonkey. Inside that there are some .m4a files that Subsonic cant read the tag information on. Which leads to two questions, why cant Subsonic read the tag information on these files, and why would the search index completely fail building if it can't read the tags on a few files.

I am having the same issue. Search used to work and no longer does. Not sure when it stopped working. Just reinstalled 4.6 and it did not solve the issue.

Code: Select all
[2012-02-01 22:07:53,001] INFO SearchService - Created search index with 66000 entries.
[2012-02-01 22:07:53,088] INFO SearchService - Created search index with 67000 entries.
[2012-02-01 22:07:53,326] INFO SearchService - Created search index with 68000 entries.
[2012-02-01 22:07:53,564] INFO SearchService - Created search index with 69000 entries.
[2012-02-01 22:08:54,588] INFO NetworkService - Successfully forwarding port 80.
[2012-02-01 22:11:40,437] INFO PodcastService - Starting scheduled Podcast refresh.
[2012-02-01 22:11:40,437] INFO PodcastService - Completed scheduled Podcast refresh.

Never says 'Updating Lucene search index."

No errors are coming up either

UPDATE: I deleted subsonic14.index and rescanned database and it worked.
