Subsonic 3.6.beta1 released

Postby sindre_mehus » Mon Jan 05, 2009 2:27 pm

Happy New Year, everybody!

Please notice that 3.6.beta1 was released today. There's quite a lot of new stuff, but most importantly:

o Fully integrated embedded Flash player.
o Ajaxified playlist page, avoiding those pesky reloads.

Complete change log: http://subsonic.sourceforge.net/changelog.html
Download: http://subsonic.sourceforge.net/download.html

Enjoy,
Sindre

I had this same problem, but it went away when I updated my version of Java. You'll want to warn your users that they may have to update their Java as well...

Nice improvements, Sindre!!

It looks like the "Now Playing" info on the right also stays current through the whole track that the users are playing, as well (instead of disappearing as soon as it had buffered). This is a HUGE improvement! Did this take some work on your part or just a bi-product of the other changes?

Either way - I think it's a great improvement!

Thanks!

Great Job. I installed it over 3.5 and everything seems to work.

For some reason the player always seem to think the song its playing is twice as long as it is. It still goes to the next song when it should so its not a big problem.

I'm not having that problem. The song duration in the player matches the duration in the playlist and when it is halfway through the song, the slider is halfway to the end of the bar...

Yeah, that's right. I forgot to mention that. To be precise, the Windows installer version now requires Java 6 or later. (The standalone and war versions are still on Java 5 or later).

It's mentioned in the installation instructions and the changelog, and now here in the announcement.

Thanks for reminding me.

It's not by chance, no :-) There is now a 60 minute history on the Now Playing information.

If the problem persists can you please email me an example audio file which demonstrates it?

Cheers, Sindre

Image
Some time the songs time will jump from 9:02 to 9:03 and back. This is going on with every song i have.

I did an uninstall and reinstall and that didn't fix it.

Edit
It seems to only happen when its transcodeing the song. The image above is going from 320 to 128 if that helps

Standalone still shows I'm running 3.6 after installing 3.6

Postby mgrant » Mon Jan 05, 2009 10:19 pm

I was running the linux/tomcat version. Then i switched to the standalone version. Today I installed 3.6 but the main page still says:

Note! A new version is available.
Download Subsonic 3.6.beta1 here

And the help button shows I'm running 3.5 build 709.

I think I must have botched the switch from tomcat to standalone somehow.

Thanks,

-mg
