Subsonic version: 4.6 (build 2583) – December 6, 2011 - standalone
Running FreeNAS Version: 0.7.2 Sabanda (revision 8191)
OS Version: FreeBSD 7.3-RELEASE-p7 (revision 199506)
Platform: amd64-full
__________________________________________________________________________________
Subsonic Rocks! :D

So this is another question about transcoding, I have read several threads about this, but mainly on just installing the codecs or how to fix them somehow in linux. I have the following codecs installed:
ffmpeg: ffmpeg-0.5_2,1
lame: lame-3.97_1
flac: flac-1.2.1_1
mac: mac-3.99.4.5

I have the default settings for transcoding in 'Settings --> Transcoding'
mp3 audio _____ ogg oga aac m4a flac wav wma aif aiff ape mpc shn _______ mp3 ______ ffmpeg -i %s -ab %bk -v 0 -f mp3 -

I have my entire log posted, but here is the part complaining about transcoding below:

Can anyone help shed some light on this for me? I can't get anything to stream at all since it has to go through the transcoding process. Do I have the wrong version of ffmpeg? If so, what version do I get. I installed the version from the 7.3 branch since that is the version of FreeBSD I'm running.

Any help would be greatly apprecaited! :)

Your ffmpeg is outdated.

Locate the appropriate version and update your ffmpeg to the latest version from here:

http://ffmpeg.org/download.html

The version that originally came with SS should have worked.

the latest version I could get a hold of for freenas was ffmpeg-0.7.11_2,1. Freenas does not include any 'make' utilities, so I couldn't compile the latest release of FFMPEG 0.10 dated 1/26/12. I still cannot play .flac or .wma files, my log is below:

Code: Select all
2012-02-02 00:05:27,546] WARN NetworkService - No UPnP router found.

there is no error at the end of the log, it just stops with what is seen above.

thank you for your help with this :) Any ideas of where I should go from here?

My apologies. It truly wasn't meant to be. Goolge reported that this link provided an updated version of ffmpeg for freenas. I didn't read the site carefully before posting the link.

Well, I hook GJ51's advice and compiled the port of FFMPEG. I installed FREEBSD 7.4 on 'virtualbox' and installed the minimum installation. Then I did a make on the ffmpeg port and when it finally finished, I copied it over to my freenas install (7.3 as above) All worked great on freenas after I copied over a few libraries that it was complaining about that it didn't have. I got those from my virtual FreeBSD install. I copied them over when it asked for one, one by one, until I could run 'ffmpeg' on freenas and it gave me back the correct output for the program. I then put it into its appropriate place for subsonic and now its happy. its FFmpeg v.7.11 (peace)

I share -- pm if you are looking for help cause I know how much of a bitch it is
