Webpage Error. Subsonic Version 4.5 (build 2385)

Postby WildWalker » Tue Sep 20, 2011 10:59 am

Subsonic Version 4.5 (build 2385) - August 11, 2011.

I only upgraded from my previous version around a week ago, and have just started to notice this error.

Sorry if this is vague, but I get an error when I login (using either IE8/9 or Chrome) that says 'Error' thats it.

The only thing that seems amiss is that I get no icon for the chat messages box on the right of the screen, and even though other users are playing music, I can't see what they are playing. If a user types a message, I do see it. I do get missing cover art sometimes when the page refreshes.

Subsonic.log does not have any events for this Error.

I get this error whether I am external on internal to the Subsonic server.

Music plays fine.

Any help greatly appreciated.
Alan Walker.

I am not sure what causes it but I find deleting the jetty cache and the browser cache gets rid of it

Everyone is entitled to be stupid, Image but some abuse the privilege!

Due to the confusion from too many genres of music, we have decided to put both country music and rap music into the genre of Crap music.

Thanks Pewsey,

I restarted Subsonic from the Subsonic Server app, and that seemed to clear it!

Maybe that does purge some cache somewhere?

Thanks,
Alan.

I've had this exact same error occur sporadically on firefox, safari & chrome across the last few versions of subsonic running on both Mac and PC platforms. Restarting the server seems to clear the error until after it while it re-appears. Seems to occur after the server has had a lot of activity, a mysterious glitch.

I think it's related to the player showing wrong user problem. (viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7837)

I've seen the error at the same time that I've seen the user mismatch problem.

Ah yes could be related as whenever the 'error' pop has occurred, the right hand side 'now playing' panel goes blank. At least now I'm running Subsonic on Windows I only have to restart the service rather than reboot the machine when it was on MacOSX. I wonder with having up to about 400 users it causes it to happen more often or it's caused by something else. Either way it's just something I have to monitor every few days and deal with as it happens.

I was seeing the same issue on my servers after recent MS updates. Updating to the latest java version cleared up the problem for me.

I covered the user mismatch issue in (what I think) was great detail. It can get very complicated, especially without a demonstration. It has to do with the cookies, and the more users you have, the higher the chance of a user mismatch occurrence.
