You may have to mount the disk. You also would have to reindex the search index.

I don't mount much, so do a google search and you should find some useful information.

Reindexing is easy: go to the subsonic settings, click search, and click the link at the bottom.

Okay, I took out the "/media" part and left /250_Black/_Media/_Music and my folders are visible.

I still 'really really' want to keep all my data, does anyone know if this is possible?

Best Regards,

I can see all the folders, and play the music okay.

Its the fact that I have lost (or never had on this install) all the stats, so if I click newest albums I get a random selection rather than the ones I added over the last few weeks, that is the what I what to transfer from windows to linux.

I thought this was all in the database, but don't know why it won't transfer.

I would type it in manually for the newest / most listened to albums if I knew how.

I do - its because the path names for the music on the new server is probably different from the old - hence it cannot relate.
You can use db.view to access and change things like playcounts etc.
See viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4478&hilit=database+view.
That will get you started.

Thanks BKKKPewsey.

I had a google of db.view and it seems to be a small app to read databases. am I looking at the correct thing?

So I need the syntax SELECT * FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.SYSTEM_TABLES to get what I need, also, I guess I will need both a compatible Windows and LInux version?

db.view is part of SS.
Log on to SS using an admin account - replace the index.view with db.view in browser address bar.
Select * from music_file_info will give you a lot of the info you need.

Check out this post in a different thread to be able to change all of your paths...

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=454&p=38326&hilit=REPLACE#p38326

NB: You may also have to do a secondary replace to replace all backslashes with forward slashes.

Let us know if you want any help... if so, give an example of some of the output you see in the "select" commands and I'll help you write "REPLACE" commands to change them.

Thanks Glenn,

I think I need to make the changes before I copy the db to the new server.

I think I will make a vm of my existing server, then use that to create the db I need.

I will give it a go, let you know if I need any help :)

Not sure why you would need to make the changes before... if you move the DB folder to the new server and start up the service, can you do the "Select * from Music_File_Info" command and get results?

Hello All,

So using the 'Select * from music_file_info' lets me see the rating, play count etc of my old server. How do I write this info in the db on my new server?

Old Server

Use this command:

Code: Select all
update music_file_info set PATH=REPLACE(PATH,'C:\_Media\_Music\','/mnt/_Music.Dad/_Media/_Music/')

Wait a while... not sure how big your library is, but it could take some time. To check to see if it is done, try (in a completely different browser window...):

Code: Select all
Select * from music_file_info order by PATH

and

Code: Select all
Select * from music_file_info order by PATH desc

(not sure what order they will show) and check to see, in both, that the music paths start with "/mnt/" instead of "c:\"

Once you are sure it is done, do this in the original window:

Code: Select all
update music_file_info set PATH=REPLACE(PATH,'\','/')

Let it run for an equivalent amount of time. This one is tougher to check to see if it is done, but it shouldn't take longer.

Once it is done, stop and restart the subsonic service (just to be sure) and then look at one of your old albums in the new location and see what it looks like.
