Subsonic hosting down?

Postby Cidaska » Mon Mar 19, 2012 7:03 pm

Me, and a friend of mine have subsonic on our systems. I haven't had any problems since installing it, but today there seems to be an issue. When I try to go to the website to login neither of ours will work. If I team-view to my system I am able to pull it up via localhost, but otherwise it will not pull up on my phone, or the computer I am on. Just wondering if perhaps anyone else is having this problem as my friend is having the same problem, and they seem to have started around the same time. We both have the same internet service provider which could be the culprit, but I just want to make sure there isn't something else before I start digging.

Problem Description: Me, and a friend who use subsonic cannot access our subsonic interface on our phones, or computers in any location but on the system it is being hosted on.
Troubleshooting Steps: I have so far ran a tracert, and a ping both of which are able to get responses. Tried to access via the ipaddress reporting in ping with both the ports that I have setup on my machine. I have checked to make sure I am fowarding to the correct ports, and nothing has been blocked on my end. I cannot speak the same for my friend.

If you're reggering to the Subsonic rediredtion service to use Servername.subsonic, org to access your Subsonic, then the answer is that everything is working fine. I just tested one of the sites I visit and everything came up without any problem.

It may be that your ISP has changed your public IP address. If that is the case, just go to Settings/Network and resave so that the new IP gets sent to subsonic.org and updates the redirection information.

Hmm, well I gave that a shot and while it didn't work I think I might have found part of the problem. I am able to access it on the host computer, and I went into the settings. When I tried to resave it was able to apply the port fowarding, but it wasn't able to register the web host. Tried changing the name just incase someone else was using the same one, and still wouldn't connect. It gives me this error, and I believe it might be something to do with my ISP. Me, and my friend share the same isp.

Status: --------.subsonic.org is registered, but could not connect to it. (ConnectTimeoutException)

I'll bug them later today, and see if there is something that is stopping my connection.

As always, you can go to http://canyouseeme.org and check to see if the port is actually open. Some ISP's will block some ports. For that reason, and because other things try to grab 80 and 443 for SSL, I never use either of those ports for Subsonic.

I most often use ports 808X and 45X for my Subsonic setups.

Yea checked that, all my ports time out I'm thinking some newbie server admin they hired at my isp screwed something up. I can't even find any open ports at all, they all just time out. I've checked over my router settings, and nothing seems to be blocking me there. I can see where my information hits the router, and it forwards out but nothing happens beyond that.

I had a problem on Monday, too, and just figured it out: my area had a brown-out and I was assigned a new external IP address. Updating that did the trick, not sure when my current name.subsonic.org address will be redirected but for now using the numerical IP address works fine.

If you go to settings/network and hit save that will update your subsonic.org IP address.

I'm having the same issue. What's funny is I can't get to my server using the xxxx.subsonic.org URL but I can using my homeserver url. Subsonic says that the ports I'm using (1494& 444) are fine but I can't get through using the subsonic URL. I get the following error

Status: XXXXXXX.subsonic.org is registered, but could not connect to it. (NoHttpResponseException)

I tired it on my phone (using 3G) and got the same thing. Weird. At least I can get to it.....

The redirection service is working. It rarely goes down. I can only recall one brief instance in the last 3 years.

Check access using Canyouseeme.org and check your firewall settings to be sure SS is being allowed.
