No media folders found. Please change the settings.

Postby wsalopek » Wed Mar 21, 2012 11:49 pm

Hi guys,

Using v4.6 on a Win 7 machine.

If I put some music in:

c:\music

Subsonic sees it just fine.

But if I try to use my real music folder:

c:\users\bill-asus\my music\itunes\itunes media\music

it does not.

I've been working on this for a few hours to no avail.

Any ideas?

Thanks so much.

Go into the services control panel and set the subsonic service to run with the user account "bill" and the correct password.

The c:\users\<username> folder is only accessible to that particular username by default.

OK...I was able to make that change, but the server still says "No media Folders Found".

And...

Just for other folks clarification. To go to "services": Hit...START, then type in "services.msc".

Then scroll down and double-click SUBSONIC

Click the LOG ON tab

Click the THIS ACCOUNT radio button

Click BROWSE

Type in your computer username (in my case, bill-asus)

Click CHECK NAMES (and you should see the box get filled in with something like "BILL-ASUS-DESK\Bill-Asus")

Click OK

Type in your computer password twice (this is not the same as your Subsonic password)

Click OK

You'll get a message that it worked and you need to stop and restart the Subsonic service

And presto...music should now be found...except that mine was not.

Sometimes windows folder permission settings get botsed. I'd suggest right-clicking on the folder and reviewing the details of the Security settings to be sure that the sam account you're using for the SS service logon is the same and has FULL CONTROL checked for that user.

We all want our systems to be secure, but all too often they're just too damned secure.
