Better Looking Android Client

Postby timefalls » Fri Nov 25, 2011 11:34 am

The Subsonic android app is looking a bit long in the tooth when compared with the recent updates from Google Music and DoubleTwist. Would it at all be possible to make a more attractive skin for the Android application?

Yes, please take a look at the current GUI of the Audiogalaxy app as an inspiration ;-)

I'd love to have just the opposite... a TEXT ONLY Now Playing screen for use in the car. The current Now Playing screen has an album cover and tiny text. Impossible to read while driving when my DroidX is in it's dashboard mount. All I need is a simple display. Black background with bold LARGE white font so I can glance at it while driving.

I'd like to see a combo, a nicer looking Android app, but like the above posters idea too. I'd like to see something like maybe the album art in the background with larger visible artist info on top of it, or something like that. I do like the appearance of Google Music, but Subsonic just kicks it's arse in functionality...

QFT

It would be nice to have both. I more portable option for when using a smaller device, but then also something similar to what it is now, which is actually perfect for tablet users.

What is QFT? And it's not quite perfect on my tablet.... Or on my phone for that matter, just haven't gotten around to searching about it, but at least in ICS, when Subsonic is in landscape mode, the EQ and Visualization buttons dissapear. I don't care about the visualizations, but since the EQ doesn't always stay on and set, I have to flip my tablet to portrait just to make sure the EQ is still on, then back to landscape to sit in its stand... Doesn't affect me on the phone much as I'm about always in portrait on the phone anyway, but tablet is always in landscape...

Quoted for Truth.

And holy S***, there's an EQ and a visualizer! Lol, wow. Yeah, the mobile app could use a refresh. Just as long as it remains tablet-friendly still :)
