BUG: searching throws error from API

Hi,

On the Android client when doing a specific search for "debney" I get "Didn't understand the reply. Please check the server address."

When running the same search from the API webservice I get:

Not sure if this bug is fixed yet. This is the latest Debian .deb installer version 4.6 on Debian 6 i386.
Only happens one certain search queries - guessing something wrong with the MP3 itself.

Ok I've worked out the issue. /var/subsonic/subsonic.log there is the error when calling the search API:
[2012-01-12 09:01:31,566] WARN FileUtil - Failed to list children for /mnt/nas/music/sorted/albums/john debney/John Debney - Predators (2010)

This is because I deleted this album and Subsonic still tries to show it in the search results when searching "debney" (need to re-index probably).

I've seen a similar issue periodically. I'm running subsonic 4.6 on a Ubuntu box (as my subsonic server/ jukebox), and accessing it via web interface and from an Android tablet.

The symptom I'm seeing is strictly on the tablet. The search sometimes returns "error, didn't understand the reply from the server". I can search my library for "big" and get results back successfully, but I can't search for "flo rida" as I receive this error. Log snipets below...

Doing a tail -f /var/subsonic/subsonic.log provides me with this:

I don't think I'm hitting a 256 character limit - does this have something to do with a variety of "." characters in the path and file name?

Search for "sugar" nets the error:

Search for "big" nets no error and valid search results. I can't imagine its the spaces in the path... How do I troubleshoot this?

I have the same thing going on with a monster archive I am importing now. Every file aborts.

Notice the "TEXT" field out of ffmpeg. I wonder if something is going on there.

Rookie mistake. My archive lacked execute permissions for the subsonic service. All good now.

I would suggest checking those files with a decent tag editor as it looks like there is a bit of corruption in the tag data.
The text tag usually contains the Lyricist who in your case appears to have a very unusual name
