It does support subdirs. I removed the subdir during testing assuming it was the problem, but it must have been something else. (Like my firewall).

I'm using subsonic on Windows and you can enable https and change the subdir in the system tray control panel. Otherwise it can be changed in subsonic-service.exe.vmoptions

-Dsubsonic.contextPath=/subsonic

ok cool. The release ver will strip http:// and https:// off the url before processing it, and forces using http because of the problems with webOS not wanting to talk to https. I'll do some testing before I rebuild in Enyo 2.0, to see if I can get away with https via normal methods, or if it'll require using a Node service to pre-download the files rather than streaming them.

The release version is available now in the catalog, and the beta will be suspended, until I'm ready to put together a new major release, in which case the new one should, I think, automatically reinstall to everyone who had the beta installed before. If not, I'll announce that on this forum too.

Any chance you could add an all folder view? This would allow you to view all the artists in one screen like the Android app. It is a bit awkward to two expand all the alphabetical folders.

Also, how about a crop function in the playlist?

Thanks.

Crop in playlist?

I think I'll make some changes to things like that over the next few weeks. I've been using this a lot more since I have a 3G connection now, so I've got some ideas for changes, particularly for the phone interface.

I'm not real sure on that artists view -- The subsonic server isn't exactly straightforward with that information, and I wasn't super keen on sending 500 requests to get that information while the user sits there and goes "omg what is taking so long?" which is what the Android client does.

On the other hand, I also plan to do a lot more information caching, which is something I do zero of right now. (Grab the "Ask500" app from the beta catalog, to see a test app that I've been working on to test some caching strategies ..)

I was hoping Enyo 2.0 would be at a much more usable state by now, which will likely have some features that will make doing large datasets like that easier, but I think we're just going to have to make do with what we have, and re-engineer some bits.

I'll probably do another mockup design before I go ahead and make any major changes, but it'll probably be a little something like ...

moving the Servers selection to it's own thing inside the Menu
Having the Player as a completely seperate full-screen view instead of sharing a view with Now Playing

On the downside, I'm elbows deep in code I have to do for my regular job the next several days. Fortunately, I think XO is in a state where for the most part, it's quite good to operate without constant adjustments. Keep the suggestions coming, though, because I do want to make it better, for sure. Although there's only about 80 users on webOS and a dozen on PlayBook, I am not going to just dump it off.

It is very awkward to scroll through all the artists because I need to expand each letter. Add to this that I have multiple music folders and perusing my library becomes quite a chore. I'm looking for a way to browse without out all of the clicking to expand.

Crop in the playlist allows you to remove all but the selected song. This is useful as it allows you to crop the currently playing song and start queueing more music behind it. I also don't see a way to rearrange the playlist...

Ah, I get it. Makes sense. I can probably add that (crop) to the hold-menu on the playlist side.

Before I get to doing any major UI changes - would a "Expand All" button help some? I'll see if I can add those real quick this weekend, although lacking a data caching mechanism at the moment, that might result in a whole lot of server requests. maybe I can add some caching while we're at it.

When I initially started writing this, it would automatically grab the Index list at startup, and startup times for me were sometimes on the order of 5 minutes, which is why it starts with nothing loaded now. I think I can do better now. :)

Yes an expand all would help. I've been thinking about collapsing my folders into one which would make it better as well.

good deal. I hope to get some time this week to do some work on it, I've got a few tweaks for the Veer/Pixis in the pipes right now, and if I can get an expand-all to perform with anything resembling good performance, I'll do that.
