MP4/AAC Audio Streaming w/ Android

Postby nuke235 » Sun Apr 22, 2012 4:47 pm

By default subsonic transcodes all audio to MP3 before streaming over the internet, I however would like it to be streamed as MP4/AAC audio. I have tried different ways to transcode the MP4 audio however my Droid always fails to play the audio. Just wondering if anyone has found good method for changing the default transcoding method from MP3 to MP4/AAC that is compatible with Android?

My recollection ( which addmittedly can be a bit faulty) is that the Android SS app can play mp3 or ogg.

I use ogg for the quality/bitrate efficiency, but it does not work well in ver. 4.6 for me. Higher bit rate codecs are OK for 4G and Wifi, but ogg can be the best option for 3g as it can maintain playback even over a poor 3g connection. You can get excellent quality at bitrates as low as 96kbps.
