Play button on flash player v3.6

Postby BrianDelShasta » Wed Feb 04, 2009 7:27 am

Is it know why the play button on the new flash player will not work initially.
1. add a song to playlist
2. cannot click play
3. click the song title in the playlist or originally click the play icon next to the song to add it to the list and play
4. now the play seems to work

Once you get a song actually play, then you can use the stop and play button like you would normally expect to.

Any ideas how to fix this?
I've tried IE and FF

I'm also experiencing this. This seems like a minor bug, something that might get fixed in the next release/beta.

I see what's going on. This isn't really a bug per se, rather the flash player isn't querying the playlist, the playlist is targeting the player. There is no file loaded into the player until it is injected by the playlist. You can't press play when there's nothing to play! That sucks...

Right, not really a bug but still kind of a bug since it doesn't work as expected. Since loading a playlist refreshes that entire pane ANYWAY, just have a load event (I'm talking C# I have little experience with JAVA) that perhaps sends the first track in the playlist to the player with a 'pause' parameter if that is available - have it ready to play the moment you press play.

Well, I know there is a param for jw player to toggle auto-start. But I think there would be an issue with what you're suggesting because you wouldn't be able to add new tracks while a song is playing because it would force the new song to be added and stop the song currently playing...

Adding tracks to the playlist doesn't appear to actually refresh the pane, though I could be wrong. If I'm right, then it really would just require a page load event to tell JW Player to ready the first song.

Overhere internal and external player doesn't play songs since V3.6 (just installed).
Don't understand the solution you give, as adding songs to playlist doesn't do the job either.
Only thing left is to download.

Tried internal, and external player.
Subsonic here on WinXP machine.

Can I go back to V3.5 without any problems anyway???

When I click play or add to playlist in the statusbar of FF I get javascript:noop () Gives this any clue to the problem???

i posted another thread about this, but since this discussion covers some similar ground i will repost-

with regard to the pane not refreshing/auto playing/etc- when you click clear, the playlist clears but the flash player DOES NOT. whatever song you were last playing when you clicked clear remains loaded in the player.

if i finish playing the smiths' "louder than bombs", clear the playlist, add the tracks in metallica's "and justice for all", and click play i wanna hear the hard hitting heavy metal of 'blackened' not the sweet disaffected croonings of morrissey on 'asleep'

also i am interested in whether it is possible for the flash player to display the album art like the old player. that was a great feature.

Hi,

I'll definitely fix the "Clear" problem described above. I'll also look into the "Add to playlist" problem and see how complex it would be to solve it.

Displaying cover art in the player will most likely not happen. The main frame will automatically switch to the currently playing album (with coverart), and you also have the "Now playing" sidebar, which pretty much should give you the same feature.

Thanks,
Sindre
