Hi,
I am using Subsonic and ISub for the iPhone since yesterday it works great. I used to have audiogalaxy installed but like this so much better!
I have a question though. This is my use case:
My music collection exists of mp3 and m4a (ALAC) files and I am running Subsonic on win7.
I use ISub for playing music on the iphone.
When using wifi I want no transcoding just the m4a / mp3 files in full bitrate.
When using 3g I want to use max bitrate of 192kbps.
Actually what I really would like is to set the max bitrate from iSub in either case.
Seems like something that should be possible. But when trying it only works for mp3 and not for m4a (ALAC)
This is what among others I have tried:
When in the Player config I select no limit at the max bitrate and mp3 transcoding OFF
And in iSub also no limit it works fine for both mp3 and alac
When I change the max bit rate to 256 Kbps in ISub it works for mp3 but not for alac they are streamed at full bitrate
When in the Player config I select no limit at the max bitrate and mp3 transcoding ON
And in iSub also no limit it works fine for mp3 but alac plays at 128 Kbps
When I change the max bit rate to 256 kbps in ISub it works for mp3 and alac on 256 Kbps mp3
When in the Player config I select 320 Kbps as the max bitrate and mp3 transcoding OFF
And in iSub also no limit ALAC file are not capped at 320 Kbps (mp3's I don't have above 320 Kbps so can't test)
When I change the max bit rate to 256 Kbps in ISub it works for mp3 but not for alac they are streamed at full bitrate
When in the Player config I select 320 Kbps as the max bitrate and mp3 transcoding ON
And in iSub also no limit it works fine for both mp3 and alac but at 320 Kbps mp3 off course
When I change the max bit rate to 256 kbps in ISub it works for mp3 and alac on 256 Kbps mp3
So in short when transcoding is off it doesn´t handle downstream ALAC properly.
Please help me in either explaining what I do wrong or confirming that´s a bug...
Regards,
Joer
