Postby shinfo » Sun May 13, 2012 5:22 pm

Tried with 4 videos, avi's - xvids, yada yada. Music seems to be streaming fine.

I get this error.
Code: Select all
Video not found or access denied: /stream?pathUtf8Hex=2f6d656469612f736464312f686f6d652f7368696e666f2f737562736f6e69632f77726573746c696e672f5757452e4672696461792e4e696768742e536d61636b646f776e2e323031322e30352e31312e484454562e587669442d766173796c6975732e617669&maxBitRate=1000&timeOffset=0&player=1

I followed to get it working. http://www.torrent-invites.com/seedbox-tutorials/166042-stream-your-downloaded-music-your-seedbox-subsonic-your-feral-seedbox.html

I guess the notable part from that would be this step;

6) If you want to be able to play for instance FLAC and transcode properly to various formats, make sure you have those transcoders inside a directory called transcode inside your subsonic folder (mkdir transcode). For instance, in my case, I have ffmpeg (making it possible to stream movies as well), lame and flac in the transcode directory. All these three were already installed on the Feral Seedbox, so I only needed to copy them to my transcode directory inside the subsonic folder (symlinks will not work!). In my case I first did a search with the command find. Then I copied the files, for instance on my Feral slice:

cd
cd subsonic/transcode
cp /usr/local/bin/lame ./
cp /usr/bin/flac ./
cp /usr/bin/ffmpeg ./

So yeah, there's all the info I have. If you can help at all, that would be splendid :)

What browser are you using? I did have an issue when one of the numerous FF updates managed to break Flash which resulted in an access denied message however chrome worked fine :?

I was having this problem and it was really frustrating. I saw in a thread somewhere that it had to do with that particular user. My daughter was at college and was having this very same issue. I created her a new user and everything worked fine. If she used her old login, she would get that message. She used the new one, it worked flawlessly. So the only thing that comes to mind is over the course of upgrading, some of the users may have been horked or something and so no longer have permissions to play videos.
Try creating another user and play those same videos. I think that you may find that it will work. I had the same problem with the guest account and sharing a video out. I changed the guest account (I think I actually had to create one since it wasn't working right) and this fixed the streaming issue.

Let me know if this helps.

Hey thanks very much for your reply,

I saw about changing the user too and have created another user but it seems the exact same problem.

I tried using "external" player as well, which didn't help at all.

Really up in arms!

Try to eliminate the possible problems.
Try playing back an flv file and see if that works.
If not move the flv to one of the music folders and try again.

I uploaded a small flv file (18mb). That plays both on my computer and from another server.

Tried in both /tv and /music, to no avail. I tried with both web player and external player (it was coming up as vlc) both with settings for flv/h264 video on and off. The video did not play.

There did not appear to be any new information in the log.

This is usually caused by one of two problems. First, "access denied" can be just what it sounds like, there's an issue with permissions settings that is not allowing Subsonic to open the file. We see this a lot on Windows installations that haven't redefined the logon rights for the Subsonic service. So that's the first issue to investigate.

Second, unfortunately, different versions of ffmpeg manifest this problem with varying file types. One of the frustrations with Subsonic is that ALL the stars need to be aligned to get good results with video playback. File extension definitions, transcoding settings, folder permissions, ffmpeg version, and a solid SS install.

I find that the latest downloadable version of ffmpeg from the ffmpeg site usually works best at handling video playback, but can also cause some issues with some audio transcodings. There's a lot of trial and error work needed to get just the right combintion to get everything just right, but when you do everything can work in an optimized way. My most solid install uses three different ffmpeg versions, each assigned to handle different file types. I've posted about it elsewhere on the forum.

I'm currently in the process of evaluating the 4.7 beta1 and I am hoping that some of these problems will be easier to deal with in the 4.7 final release.

The folders and files are all CHMOD set to read (for files) and read/write (for folders) in the minimum.

Would requesting my host to install the latest ffmpeg version help?

It would make sense in your setup to do all your testing and bug fixing on a local machine mirror before requesting any changes on your VPS environment.

Currently running through this walkthrough in hopes that I can get ffmpeg working, though I have stalled on the second half of the MPlayer setup..
