Subsonic only grabs artwork from first file in a folder

Postby Globe199 » Sun Apr 01, 2012 8:51 pm

I have several folders with single tracks. Each has embedded art. However, Subsonic only grabs artwork from the first track (alphabetical by artist). This isn't a big problem when using a PC to play music. But I only get that first track's art when playing on iSub. I'm thinking it's caused by the server and not iSub. Anyone else noticed this or found a workaround?

Yes you are correct - SS will look first for a jpg file in the folder (eg cover.jpg or or folder.jpg)
If it cannot find that it will use the 1st embedded artwork it finds.
This is ok for albums of course but not for single tracks in a folder eg a top 40 list.
The only workaround (if you could call it that :? ) would be to put each track in its own folder :(

Thanks for acknowledging the issue. At least I know someone else has noticed this.

If I'm correct, iSub uses the subsonic API to retrieve the artwork for each album. If subsonic only cares about the first instance of album art, then iSub can't know any better.

Yes, that's what I figured -- it's a server problem, not a client problem. How can we get this reported as a bug so that it can be fixed?

Definition of a bug IMHO
Something that doesn't work as described.
Where does it say that SS should display embedded artwork for every file in a folder :?

I would suggest that, if this important to you, you make a request in the Feature Requests sub-forum

Software bug is better described as something that doesn't work as the developer intended.

Subsonic is a fine creation, and it's not out of the realm of possibility that this developer intended for each track to display it's own album cover.

you think?
