Gary,

My whole library is properly tagged with MPT Tag Studio (http://www.magnusbrading.com/mp3ts/)
This is an excellent tool, which I highly recommend
Among other things, it allows the tags to be set from your existing folder structure

I checked my library with Beets from http://beets.radbox.org. It took a while but it's pretty awesome to have all tags checked against the MusicBrainz database.

I was having an issue but I think it was intended to be a feature. In any case in the 4.7b1 I notice my album names were missing and everything was sorted by album title. Is there anyway to fix this as I want everything listed the same way as in v4.6

Thanks Patrick,

I'll give this a test drive.

I do get confused by this issue sometimes, but doesn't the utility that Patrick just recommended solve the problem if it uses the files structure to fill in the tags? My tags and folder names have always matched, so I don't see anything different going from 4.6 to 4.7, so please forgive me if I'm not understanding this issue as well as I should.

Thanks for useful feedback and suggestions!

You're right, I never publicly announced the first beta release as the risk of severe bugs was high. Seems to work pretty well now, so I hope to release an official 4.7.beta2 version in not so long.

I'll see what I can do about the following:

1. Make it possible to import existing m3u playlists (and export).
2. Sort albums by year, and display the year.
3. Maybe make it user-configurable whether to display album or directory name. (I'm slightly worried about adding yet another option, though).

Don't worry - be happy - LOL.

Kudos on 4.7b1 - keep up the great work. 4.7 final will most likely deserve another donation in my opinion.

Thanks again for all the hard work.

Thank you for your continuing work to make subsonic even more better.

I think in the long run it should be possible for the experienced user to configure subsonic individually by all tags (not only the standard) and so make it completely independent of directory structures. It would be possible for every user to configure his own virtual directory structure.
At the moment I am a litlle bit worried because subsonic does not know the tag "albumartist" and completele depends on the tag artist or alternatively the folder. For my structure it is not a problem, because I have directories by albumartist, but I would like to edit this tag on the run in subsonbic as it is possible with other standard tags and anyway it is not so flexible as it could be.

Track Listing now showing alphabetically

Postby utopian » Wed May 30, 2012 8:45 am

Hi

Installed the 4.7 beta a couple of weeks ago but only just noticed that some albums are showing the track listing alphabetically .... albums where the tracks are listed as 1...xxxx 2...xxx etc etc are ok... is this some sort of tagging issue ?

thanks

I love the speed of 4.7 beta... The days where I had to wait up to 10 seconds for my android phone to display the content of subsonic folders are over which is truly amazing! But I have a few bugs to report.

First, I have a shortcut for a random music album "The Trigbag Chronicles". I can remove the shortcut by going to Settings - General - Shortcuts and change 'New Incoming Podcast' to just 'Podcast'. Minor bug, but a little annoying, and it doesn't seem to make much sense that "New Incoming Podcast" would create a shortcut for "The Trigbag Chronicles".

Secondly and more problematic, some of the folder names get assigned random names in Subsonic. For example, I have a folder on my harddrive called 'Tech House', but in Subsonic it's called 'Xxxperience Curitiba 2008'. Seems like Subsonic assigns its folder names to the album name of the first song in the folder, which is often incorrect as I have songs from multiple albums in the same folder. It doesn't seem to affect folders with all songs in subfolders, ie it only affects folders with some amount of songs not in subfolders. Didn't have this problem in 4.6. Oh, and also I find it very annoying that only album name is displayed but not the artist! Now I have no idea who made the different albums in Subsonic.

Don't know if it's already been posted, but it's a major problem for me, and I hope it will be fixed in the next beta.

Keep up the good work Sindre, Subsonic is truly one of the most amazing pieces of software I've ever come across.

The 4.7 beta incorrectly lists some artists. For example, in my collection I have "J. Geils Band" as the album artist (and track artist). Subsonic now displays it as "J". "R.E.M". is listed as "R.E".

I verified that the tags are correct. This is the same for both FLAC and MP3 files.

I'm running Subsonic on Ubuntu 11.10 Server.

does this mean the beta is currently only supporting playlists created in the beta? There's no where i can drop existing playlists? This is a deal breaker for me.

i maybe found a performance-bug if much album-ratings are used on large libraries in the actual 4.7 SVN Build ,
can the get/set-rating function all so use the (?id=) parameter instead of path for more speed?

best regards

Yes please! Thank you for acknowledging this change in structure so quickly. I too include the year of release in all my folder names and would hate to lose the ability to view large discographies chronologically. Cant wait for the new release!
