I too see that running it on a vista machine, Seems it doesn't like the period....T.I is just T I have REM also, but no periods and it shows up, however Run D.M.C just comes up Run D.M

Try renaming the folders to something else, then rename back to the original name. Sounds more like a Windows problem with the 8.3 naming convention than a Subsonic problem.

Folders don't technically have "file extensions" on them (otherwise they would be files!), so that's why I'm thinking it's more of a Windows issue...

I have reproduced it and can confirm that it´s a bug. Will be fixed.

Thanks a lot :)

Problem: Search/random Playlist

i found some bugs with lucense search

if i want get a random playlist from the More-Page it doesnt work, but only with some special genres.

Example: Drum & Bass, Hard Rock, rock, podcast

podcast: genre

will be sorted out because only MEDIATYPE.AUDIO is supported

drum & Bass: genre

only first words are indexed so the FIELD search doesnt work well
search with only drum or bass will work

Hard rock, rock: genre

same Problem: only first words are indexed, so if i search with rock, Hard rock will also be displayed

best regards

I'd run chkdsk first then do a manual rescan to see if you can get any clues. Some hard drives start to break down as they age and the heat generated by intense prolomged disk activity is enough to put them over the edge. I'd also look at what kind of disk temperatures are being generated during the scan. HD tune pro or any similar disk monitoring software may be helpful for looking at the health of the hard drive(s).

Hm an OS issue? :) I don't think so... 4.6 runs stable. Checkdisk is fine, I've running Hard Disk Sentinel always in background and get reports every day via email about status of my fileserver. All fine. No problems with HD or temperature issues.
Also I wonder why Subsonic always freezez at the same position at media rescan. Btw this only happens on rescan, not on first time scan which runs fine.

Ok wizard. Then seeing as how you only divulge relevant information AFTER you ask the question I'll refrain from offering further suggestions so as not to waste your time. Good luck.

Uhm sorry GJ51. I just wanted some help.

Is beta 2 available yet? I saw a link a few posts up but it went to a gmail login and I'm hoping that was supposed to be a link to beta 2. I'm dying without playlists. Is there an emoticon with a noose?

3. Maybe make it user-configurable whether to display album or directory name. (I'm slightly worried about adding yet another option, though).

I hope you can fix the 'problem'. A music player like subsonic that don't <DELETED BY MOD> my music is the reason is donated for a license.
with the new "feature" i cant see label, release year, source, flac/mp3 etc. which the folder normally shows.

looking forward to a new beta

Well spotted! I've fixed the problem with multi-word genre now. I don't think the need for playing random podcasts is called for, so I'll leave that.

Thanks a lot

Just wanted to chime in. Holy moly it has been a while since I contributed daily to the forum. Now that my semester is over I have a few weeks to work on subsonic once again. It will be less involved than before, because I am busy with Cisco stuff, but I feel like I should definitely start becoming more familiar with 4.7. I am way way way out of the loop!

To be honest, I am very nervous about 4.7 because I have made so many modifications that I am afraid I will lose them. That is why I am going to install 4.7 on a separate server with access to my media and slowly re-incorporate my mods, as well as test it. I have not seen or used 4.7 at all yet, and I can't wait until its release! I will slowly migrate all my code from 4.5 to 4.7, and will only retire 4.5 when I feel that everything is perfect. Otherwise I will be violating the rule which to me has become so sacred of: leave well enough alone.

Anyways, it is very exciting to see a 7-page thread just for one version of subsonic. This has been a long awaited version, and I haven't even read through its features yet. I have a lot of catching up to do, but I am so happy to have some time to do just that!

Cheers!

OK. I am checking out 4.7 thanks to Gary ;)
First of all, it is clearly faster when loading pages, the issue that I have tried to fix but was really a backend problem. Wow!
The thing that I have spent hours doing by hand is removing the whitespace from the important pages like main.jsp, home.jsp, top, jsp, and left.jsp. I think that there is a way to do it server-side, but I don't know too much about the java server framework. With less whitespace, the pages can load even faster!

I have a lot more to check out, but I should be able to use the new framework and integrate my mods nicely.

Some issues I've noticed at first glance:
1) Starred feature is a bit slow.
2) Duplicate songs wil loop the playlist.
3) Videos have playlist features, but they can not be added to the queue. (Play All, Add All)

Can't wait to get started on the new version!! Sindre, somehow you manage to make the best even better! Thank you so much for your work, dedication, and expertise!

I just downloaded and installed 4.7beta2 on a separate server. There seems to be an issue with this title: Femme Fatale Deluxeï¦Britney Spears - 10 - Trip To Your Hear.mp3.

The whole album has that weird "i" after "Deluxe," and they show up as links and cannot be played.
There are a few albums like this.

Also, Settings > Personal - Display Browse.Year does not turn off the year when unchecked.

And once the video Playlist is created, it can't be deleted.
