Manage the jukebox on the host

Postby redl » Thu Jun 07, 2012 12:09 am

Hi !

I've installed Subsonic on my mini-pc, running Ubuntu 12.04, in the living room. It's plugged to my hifi system, and I'm really happy with that :)

Most of the time, I set the music in the living room from my android phone, using the jukebox mode.
It seems the jukebox mode kind of "hijacks" the audio, since while music is playing, I can get no other sound (movies).
I have to stop the playback on the android phone to have the audio back on the mini-pc.

And the other way around too : it seems that when the sound card is being used by any application, the jukebox mode produces no sound.

All this, however, is no real problem since I rarely watch a movie while listing to music ( :) ).

The problem is that I'd love to be able to manage the jukebox from the host machine directly. It seems quite logical to be able to start/stop music or kick clients from the host machine.
Right now, it seems that if I had launched a long playlist from my work, and forgotten my phone there for the weekend, I'd have to listen to that playlist for the whole week-end without being able to do anything else.

Is there a way to do what I want ?

Thanks for the great work !

PS : Besides, that "audio hijacking" works in a very inconsistant way. Sometimes, stopping the music from the android app restores the other apps' sound, but sometimes not.

I am not sure if this would work with the android app/player but if you log into your server web page - select jukebox player and then hit the clear button that should stop all jukebox output.
I wont ask why you are trying to control your jukebox when you are at work though - you must have a very loud hi-fi system :?
(Just glad I am not one of your neighbours  )
Everyone is entitled to be stupid, Image but some abuse the privilege!

Due to the confusion from too many genres of music, we have decided to put both country music and rap music into the genre of Crap music.
