Paid work: Customize Subsonic Android app for client

Postby sindre_mehus » Tue May 08, 2012 9:04 am

Hi all,

I have been contacted by a client who wants to customize the Subsonic Android app and use it in a commercial setting. He has asked if I could do the work but I am unfortunately too busy with other things.

I was thinking there could be some Android developers on the forum who would be interested. It is paid work (details to be agreed with the customer).

Let me know if this is of interest, and I can put you in touch with the client.

Kind regards,
Sindre

Sindre,

Can you provide any additional details regarding the customization? I'm a third year undergrad computer science student and have no professional experience, but I have written one Android app and have poked around the Subsonic Android client source. I am quite capable, but without more information I am unsure of the skill level required. Anyways, I would enjoy this opportunity very much!

Thanks,
Rob H

Hi Sindre,

Replying to a forum-post is a bit out of the ordinary for me, but I'm glad you threw the request for help out there!

A colleague stumbled across this post and was excited about the chance to work on this app, so I'm here to pitch our (and his) services and see if there's a match. Our 4-man company is Pixplicity and is specialized in Android, which primarily comes down to building apps and providing consulting for other Android development teams. Normally, we don't do any kind of sales or advertising, since customers manage to find us through word-of-mouth and, unfortunately, we already regularly have to turn down projects. We generally work with A-brands (often in the Netherlands) and focus on quality, but when choosing projects, we truly get excited about those that are challenging or original, which Subsonic certainly is.

I'd be happy to discuss the plans further by phone (+31 30 8000 412) or e-mail (eric at pixplicity com). Feel free to get in touch and hopefully I can make my colleague happy with the chance to work on Subsonic!

Best,
Eric
