[SOLVED] Problem upgrading from 4.6 to 4.7b2

Postby diffy » Sun Jun 17, 2012 4:21 pm

Subsonic 4.7beta2

I have a Debian (Squeeze) box running Subsonic 4.6.
Today I downloaded the latest beta package, v4.7b2, and ran dpk -i subsonic-v4.7-beta2.deb

It installs and asks if I want to upgrade the Subsonic package, which I answered yes to.
Installation went fine, and it started subsonic after install.
I stopped it with "/etc/init.d/subsonic stop" and took a look in /etc/default/subsonic to specify the runtime arguments, port number and max memory.

When I start Subsonic 4.7 b2, the logfile /var/subsonic/subsonic_sh.log is flooded with lines like this, and never comes online:
[GC 104134K->97601K(107504K), 0.0089290 secs]
(it just keeps writing these lines to the logfile indefinately, I thoughtt it might be because it took time to load the new version up, but I have waited for it for 5 hours now)

There are no errors in the log, and I can't get it to work :\

I managed to solve it.

I don't know if I had to solve anything in fact, but this is what I did.

I had an old Subsonic 4.6 install on my server. Upgraded to 4.7 Beta2, which would not get to the point where the webapp allowed web-clients.
I then removed the 4.7 beta2 package using "apt-get remove subsonic" and reinstalled 4.7 beta2 with "dpkg -i subs4.7b2.deb"

A little frustrated I noticed that it was stlil writing those lines to the subsonic_sh.log file, but after 10 minutes it did indeed come online.
Now it's scanning media folders again, and I am really happy about the new functionality!!! Such as the scanner-indicator, which is really helpful to the user.
