Disappearing Library Summary

Postby bluetooth » Fri Oct 03, 2008 12:24 pm

Sometimes the summary info of the library appears on the left side, other times it is not displayed. I can't seem to determine what causes it to show or not show, but I would like it to show all the time.

Any idea what is causing this, and how to correct it? Thanks in advance.

No takers on this? Is this a bug? Is it a setting somewhere?

Are you referring to the left side folder list with the A-B-C... on top?
I've seen something similar on my system, but that has to do with me running Subsonic through Tomcat on a Linux system and having all my media mounted from another Windows system. If the mounted drive is down ( when I have to restart my Win XP following an automatic update from Microsoft... ) the index on the left-hand menu will be empty as it's a real-time view of the folder-three.
Currently without Subsonic due to hardware failure :(

Yeah, that was it. For a while, it kept disappearing and re-appearing for no apparent reason. Since I posted the message it hasn't happened, but I'll keep a closer eye on it to try to see the conditions when it happens.

The summary reappeared, and now it's disappeared again. I'm talking about the:

5,278 artists
2,181 albums
33,161 songs
187.73 GB (~ 2,916 hours)

That shows up on the left side. Anyone have any ideas why it keeps disappearing?

No, subsonic is not indexing and the summary info is not displayed.

Anyone else have this bug? Am I the only one?

My summary disappeared after upgrading to 3.6

I'm not sure if it is related at all but I'm also having other issues with missing displays of random albums etc on the home tab so I'll have to look at reinstalling, upgrading java / tomcat etc and see if that works.

...unless anyone has any better ideas

Thanks

specs
Subsonic 3.6
Ubuntu 8.04
Tomcat 6.0.16
JDK Runtime 1.6.0-b09

***EDIT***
all fixed after an index delete and restore

Which file did you delete exactly? I 've tried a few I thought were the index with no luck. I've tried looking via google too.

I'm getting this problem and I'm not using Tomcat.
I'm using Linux Mint 9 (Ubuntu) and Subsonic 4.01

This is what it shows when it shows.
3,130 artists
2,730 albums
29,393 songs
148.70 GB (~ 2,309 hours)

This disappears when I include a link to a folder that almost doubles the file count.
So I have started to think its to do with the indexing going over a maximum. Perhaps the Java Heap but I dont really know, I'm only going on what I have managed to pick up from here and there.
I do know that if I remove the extra folders, restart the subsonic service and then re-index, it comes back to the above listing.
Sometimes I get it to show something like
300 GB (~4,600 hours)

But I cant repeat that every time as it usually disappears.

Anyone able to say how to increase the Java heap size so I can see if it fixes it. ?
Or any other ideas.?

Thanks.

EDIT: To update my situation.
I ran:
Code: Select all
subsonic --help

found out that the default max Java Heap size is 100MB and then set it to 150MB
Code: Select all
subsonic --max-memory=150

Seems to fix it so far.
Also I don't get that error after indexing I used to get when users logged in. It was just a dialog with "Error" in it. I'm glad its gone as I had to restart the service each time to get rid of it.
It is we who live that the music may play.
