Unconnectable remotely after time n has elapsed

Postby iamdooser » Wed Jul 25, 2012 3:40 pm

For some reason after a certain amount of time Subsonic is unreachable at port 4040 from a remote network. I can't be sure this doesn't happen locally too, but I don't believe so since it seems to happen over time, and I've left serve running just as long and accessed it locally as I have left it running and not been able to access it locally. Port forwarding is set up fine, but after a certain duration Subsonic doesn't seem to respond and I have to reboot. Come to think of it I haven't tried to just restart the subsonic service to see if that would change anything. Other ports continue to work, such as I have setup with Transmission (9091).

One thing I don't understand is the
Code: Select all
[7/25/12 11:38:26 AM EDT]   INFO   NetworkService   Deleted port mapping for port 4040
line which seems to happen every time the subsonic service is started.

Should also note that I'm running Subsonic as root, since Jukebox doesn't work when run as it's own user and I haven't taken the time to sort that out.

Problem Description: As above.
Troubleshooting Steps: As above.

The message you are seeing is subsonic trying to delete the port mapping for port 4040 before it recreates it (with uPNP). You may disregard it.

The first question is, when subsonic goes unresponsive from the outside, is it also unresponsive from inside the network?

Thanks for your quick response.

Unfortunately I was unable to determine that. I was away, and the only way I thought of trying that is SSH tunneling into the device and trying to access the 'localhost' address. This didn't work for any of my services since I was tunneling and set up Firefox on local client to run through the tunnel, but I guess a localhost address doesn't work for that setup. Next time this happens again I'll try to figure that out somehow.

I thought it was probably subsonic somehow, because I could still access Transmission remotely at port 9091. I don't have any other services set up yet (not even apache).

This hasn't seemed to repeat itself...so maybe it was a one time occurrence? Anyway, Subsonic is great. Don't know what else to say.
