Creating a Subsonic instance in Virtual Machine

Postby waltermmm » Tue Jul 24, 2012 1:27 pm

Hallo

As there is no way to create 2 instances of subsonic on the same machine I would like to create another installation in a virtual machine.

But its a kind of difficult to connect to this server in the virtual machine. My host system is CentOS 6 and my Guest system is Ubuntu 12.04 in VirtualBox.

In the local network the ip of my computer is 10.0.0.121, the ip of my virtual machine is 10.0.2.15. But i don't know exactly how to forward port 4040 to the virtual machine. I forwarded the port in my Centos firewall also in virtualbox itself, but I cannot connect from the Host system to the subsonic client in VirtualBox. Using the subsonic installation inside the Virtualbox does work very well.

Does somebody has experience in Virtualbox installations?

thx in advance

You shouldn't have to do any port fowarding. Just put the IP of the VM in your browser of the host.

To make things easier though you may consider this: shut down your VM and change the Network in your VM settings to Bridged Adapter. This will allow your VM on the same IP range as your host. You don't need to forward any ports, simply use the IP in a browser on the host as if the VM is another physical machine on the same network.
