Random Playlist Function Problem w/ Genres

Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide.

I have approximately 30.000 songs (mostly mp3s at 320) on a windows based system and am experiencing the following problem.

When using the Random Playlist function to generate a playlist based on genre, ("country" for instance), the playlist only generates a total of 4 songs despite there being hundreds of songs tagged "country". Those files do show up as "country" when looking at song tags under the edit file function, but the random playlist function can't seem to find them.

Moreover, when editing tags in SS, certain genres, ("old time" being one), cannot be entered as a genre tag in the global settings despite it being listed as an existing tag in the drop down list.

As an aside, it may be that large numbers of files are being just being excluded from the random playlist function as I have been surprised how often I hear the same song when using it - but I'm not sure as if it's selecting from 3000 rather than 30,000 it still seems relatively random, if you know what I mean. However, if the problem is simply that most of the files are being excluded from the random playlist search that still doesn't explain the missing genre in the global drop down list.

For what it's worth, the basic search function does seem to search my entire data base - it's only the random playlist generator that seems to do a "limited" search.

Which version of SS are we talking about here?

Following up on your question I looked at the update page and noticed that the beta update includes searchable tags, so I decided to give it a go and see if that fixes my problem. I have installed the latest beta version and it is currently updating the data base. I'll let you know if it fixes the problem.
