Is this after uninstalling Java, Subsonic through control panel, deleting C:\Subsonic, and then doing a clean install of the latest Java and Subsonic?

I can't for the life of me get it to work either. I keep getting the 503 after fresh installs of Java and Subsonic. Someone please help!

What platform are you on?

This is almost impossible on a clean Windows install using the Windows installer. When you uninstall Subsonic, if you're on Windows, are you uninstalling SS through Control Panel/Programs and features and then deleting C:\Subsonic.

If you are just doing a clean basic Windows install it's just about impossible to not at least get to the point where you can open the local instance.

You have to provide some more details if you want more help. Just sayin that you tried it too and it didn't work doesn't give anyone enough information to help you.

Yeah I get that. I'm on Windows Vista. And yes, I tried re-installing and deleting C:\subsonic.

Could you spell out for me the exact order of steps to take so I can try again and re-verify it all?

It's not clear anywhere what they are.

I've had Subsonic running for over a year now with no problems so I'm not a newbie.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Ok thanks. I got it up and running. 2 things though. Unless I checked "automatically configure router", it didn't seem to work correctly. I know I have the rest setup right, so that seemed strange to me.

Second, the playback now skips a lot in this version even though I can clearly see the song being cached way ahead of playback. Thoughts on that?

Yeah the original tutorial is a bit dated now, but back then a lot of users were having a lot of trouble getting routers set up, but I guess there are more newer router out there now so trying to let Plug and Pray do it first is probably a good idea.

As for playback issue, there are a lot of variable involved that can cause problems and we can usually get most issues fixed with enough feedback. The more information you provide the easier it will be to get a fix.

Are there particular file types that are causing issues?
Do you see similar results when you visit other known good SS sites? You're welcome to logon to my site to see if you get similar problems. You can find the link on my profile page.
Do the problems happen on the local instance? when your connected inside your network? Outside? On a phone app?

I know that composing a detailed post isn't something a lot of members are used to, but the more details you provide the more clues we have.

Also, I have found that different versions of ffmpeg yeild better results in specific applications and sometimes it takes some experimenting to get everything just right. That said, music playback has been pretty staightforward for a while now and shouldn't be presenting too many problems unless you have some wierd file types or there are corruptions in your tracks that cause problems.

Right thanks. I appreciate the feedback. As of now, it's skipping on the computer that is running the server. However, my wife's computer on the same networked streamed just fine. I will do some testing and try and figure it out. I'll post some more details only if I get stumped and can't get it figured out. I did try streaming on your site and got the same skipping issues, so who knows at this point what it is. Probably just need to reboot again.

I really appreciate your help on this. Take care.

Not sure what originally caused this problem but completely uninstalling subsonic and removing all the folders associated with it then re installing worked like a charm thanks for all your help guys.
