Could not connect to it (HttpHostConnectException)

Postby kc5hwb » Sat Aug 25, 2012 6:23 am

<myname>.subsonic.org is registered, but could not connect to it. (HttpHostConnectException)

I've read several articles in this forum about people receiving this error, and most of the time it is due to a misconfigured router setup. However, that isn't my case because I have been running a subsonic server on this same router for several months. Today I upgraded my computer which was running my subsonic server program. I upgraded to the newest version of Ubuntu, which is 12.04 64-bit. Previously I was running Ubuntu 11.10 32-bit on this same machine, but I got a Mobo/cpu upgrade, so I decided to go 64-bit with the latest version of Ubuntu.

The install of subsonic went fine and of course I can access http://localhost:4040 just fine too. If I go to http://canyouseeme.org I can see my 4040 port just fine, but I can't see 8080. I have 4040 and 8080 manually forwarded in my router to the IP on my Ubuntu box, as I have for many months now. As I said, nothing in the router has changed.

I am sure I am missing a setting in the Subsonic server program somewhere. I followed the instructions on the website, but I am still getting this error. Basically I need to know where to go in Subsonic to tell it to use port 8080 or whatever port I am using.

Thanks

OK I changed that, and now it won't connect at all. Also after changing that port, it won't connect via localhost and canyouseeme.org doesn't see my port 4040, which I'm thinking is part of the problem.

Here is the code I changed:

Code: Select all
SUBSONIC_ARGS="--port=8080 --https-port=443 --max-memory=120"

Since this doesn't work and nothing will connect, I changed it back to the default setting of

Code: Select all
SUBSONIC_ARGS=" --max-memory=120"

And now everything connects again like it was before. 4040 is viewable and I can connect to http://localhost:4040
