I have followed the instructions and have gotten the WTV files to show up in sub sonic and they are able to play. Although they are playing all I see is a gray box where I should see the picture and I also get no sound and can not figure out how to fix this. My ffmpeg is fully up to date and I am running the 4.7 beta 3 release of sub. I also have not edited the playlist.jsp file because I dont know if it is necessary or where it is located on my computer. I am very close to getting this to work and any help would be great. I'm not using a very slow computer its a core i5 sandy with 8 GB of ram and a SSD for main HDD while running windows 7.

This is all i have done so far as stated by "Deleet"
Under the transcoding menu of settings:
Name: wtv > flv
From: wtv
To: flv
Step 1: ffmpeg -ss %o -i %s -async 30 -b %bk -r 23-.976 -s %wx%h -ar 44100 -ac 2 -v 0 -f flv -vcodec libx264 -preset fast -threads 0 -
Step 2 and 3: [blank]
Default and enabled are checked.

My site works fine using that setup. The only difference I can think of is that I use the WAR version rather than the standatrd Windows install, and I have seen differences in the past which is why I switched to the WAR version.

The other possible might be the ffmpeg version. When using the WAR version you have to download the transcode files, the the first step you might try is to go to the Zeranoe site and download the latest ffmpeg static build for your OS and replace the ffmpeg in the transcode directory.

Let me know if that doesn't help and we can dig into other things if necessary.

Yep that was the problem, I had the newest ffmpeg but with the RAW files it just worked. Thanks so much for your help!

Sorry to dig up an old thread... but I'm a new user looking to stream my recorded TV files (wtv) in Subsonic. I've added the encoder, enabled the filetype, and enabled the player. I can stream the wtv files in the subsonic PC web interface. However, my Android phone shows the folder for my wtv files and shows the (Windows 7 default) TempRec folder in the media folder, but none of my wtv files. I know I've got everything working right as I can definitely see and play the files in the web interface on my PC, but the files aren't showing up in the Android app. The same thing is happening with my movies. I can see all my movies/play them in the web interface, but when I look in the media folder on my Android app, there's no movies. However, when I search for a movie, it shows up and I can play it in the app. Unlike my movies, I can't even search for a wtv file and then play it. Any ideas?

Also, what playlist.jsp file do I add the line
}
if (song.format == "aac" || song.format == "m4a" || song.format == "wtv") {

and where in that file do I add that line? Is it in C:\subsonic\jetty\3106\webapp\WEB-INF\jsp or is it in C:\subsonic\jetty\3106\webapp\WEB-INF\jsp\wap or do I change both?

It seems like the issue I have is that some files aren't showing up in the Android app, but they are definitely showing up in the web interface. I THINK that if I can play it in the web interface that I SHOULD be able to be playing it on my phone too...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Here's what my PC is showing for recorded TV:

And here's my phone in the Recorded media folder (showing the Windows 7 TempRec folder as well):

The android app cannot display items that are in the root folder of a shared location. Put them into a subfolder and they will appear there.

It is a known bug.
