Find individual artists on 'Various Artists' albums

Postby piethein » Sat Sep 01, 2012 10:03 am

I have some compilation albums, I'd like to be able to find tracks on them by searching for the individual artist. I'd also prefer Subsonic to display the individual artists name instead of 'Various Artists' on playback.

Is this possible?

I'm Running Subsonic 4.6 (build 2583) – 6 december 2011.
I don't have any problems searching for individual artist on compilation albums.
I think that it is all about making sure you're mp3 tags are OK.
I did put some effort in correcting mp3-tags to make sure they contain the right info, since I noticed that Subsonic uses these to find the files.

np with 4.6, its 4.7 which has the problem as the beta is using album artist for display :) and for search :(

4.6
9,103 artists
9,155 albums
111,052 songs

4.7
2,957 artists
9,464 albums
110,913 songs

Yep I get more albums - less songs and a lot less artists with the beta :?
Everyone is entitled to be stupid, Image but some abuse the privilege!

Due to the confusion from too many genres of music, we have decided to put both country music and rap music into the genre of Crap music.

Seems to me that that's another reason to stick to 4.6.
Reading about all the issues 4.7 has, I don't think the new version is really an improvement.
