Deleted Folder Still Appears

Postby tmwsiy » Mon Sep 10, 2012 3:08 pm

I mis-spelled a subfolder in one of my indexed locations.

Now, both the corrected one and the old one appear (even though it doesn't exist anymore).

I have scanned several times, cleaned index, stopped and restarted server, rebooted computer and anything else I can think about.

How can I remove this from showing?

4.7.beta3 (build 3081) on Windows 7

thanks

Did you also clear your browser's cache?

It might be, that there's no issue, but that you're browser just is not displaying the updated situation.

Interesting. Last official 4.7b3 I have is build 3060.

Is your Subsonic a modded release?

It appears that 4.7 is being reviewed and updated with bug fixes, so I suspect that 4.7 final release isn't too far off.

I use 4.6, 4.7b3. and MadEvil's modded 4.7.beta3 (build 3106) so I can see the differences between them. I haven't run into the same issue you're describing on any of those installs.

Have you tried deleting the Media Folders in Settings then redefining the correct folders? If that doesn't work then you might have to delete the C:\Subsonic folder (on Windows) to get rid of any residual information that isn't being deleted properly.

Yes, cleared the cache and even tried on a "virgin" machine that had never been on my Subsonic server before.

Modded? No, I just downloaded the recent version that was on the site and copied the "about" info.

Yes, I tried unindexing the top folder and adding it again. Bummer, I was really hoping I wouldn't have to delete C:\Subsonic folder

Have you explored http://<yourserver>/db.view?

I'm 100% sure it can be deleted from there. Problem is, I don't use the official Subsonic server anymore so my knowledge about how it behaves steadily decreases.

Start off by typing select * from media_file where path = '......' and press OK. Should give some hints. Replace the dots with your folder name. (case sensitive!)

I'm using the WAR version dated Aug 2, 2012. What's the date on the build you're using?

Alright, maybe someone with a bit of SQL knowledge running 4.7 could take over here?

What I'd do is fire up a browser, go to http://yourserver/db.view, enter
Code: Select all
select * from media_file where upper(path) = upper('C:\path\to\deleted_folder')
press OK and look at the output. That way, you would learn what to delete from the database to have your deleted_folder cleared out. You need to speak a bit of SQL to do this. But then, you could remove just the offending deleted folder instead of your whole C:\Subsonic installation.

I'm using a completely different media scanner though so I don't know any details about how the Subsonic 4.7 scanner (mis)behaves and how exactly it stores stuff. So I'm not of more help on this than giving vague guidelines, sorry. Hope somebody else can fill out the details.

Yeah, I just went to the download site and the Windows setup exe appears to have been released a day later.

I'm still a bit unclear on how all this happened and why it can't be fixed. I've never encountered any difficulty as you're describing it here.

Are you saying that you've gone into the Settings menu and deleted the incorrect entry with the misspelled subdirectory, but it still shows up in the left column after reindexing the media files? That would be strange behavior indeed and one that I've never before observed in Subsonic. Have you tried deleting all folder entries to see if all media is cleared? Go to Settings - the default screen is "Media folders" - find the entry that is incorrect, then put a check mark in the box to the right under the delete column and then go to the bottom of the screen and hit the "Save" button to remove the incorrect entry.

The easiest way to enter media folders correctly into Subsonic when using windows is to just bring up explorer and open the folder that you want Subsonic to use, then just cut and paste from the address bar into the media folder entry box in Subsonic. There's no need to mistype anything.

No, not the directory itself: one of the albums within it.

I want to remove "Bib Weir..." I right-clicked and re-named the folder to "Bob Weir..." BOTH still appear.
