Help port forwarding Q1000

Everything was working well on my subsonic set up before I switched internet providers and they set me up with an Actiontec Q1000 router. Now, I've gone through the steps on portforwarding.com and I still get 'Connection timed out' when trying to see the port on canyouseeme.org. Can anyone help? Thanks.

You did enter the IP address of your server correctly? and the server has got a static IP?
Apart from portforward.com instructions for forwarding port 80 for SS -which you do not have to unless you are using that port - the instructions seem ok.
Try turning off the router and rebooting - sometimes they require a little kick for encouragement

I am assuming that you can see SS from within your own lan and its just external not working.

Note I am not using that modem/router so cannot advise further.

I use the donate xxxxx.subsonic.org address. I've got a static IP address which was working fine with SS up until I switched routers. Do I need to do something else?

Also, if it's set up right, canyouseeme.org should be able to see my 4040 and 8080 that I'm using right?

Correct. Your new router may have given your server a different lan IP, so try to 'fix' that IP as static as well.

Easiest way is to setup DHCP Reservation in your router. The router will then always give the server the same IP address.

I think this computer is always associated with .2 so that's not the issue. Any other thoughts?

So you followed the instructions I posted in the tutorial section and it didn't work. Gee, that's really helpful information.

So, what didn't work? Subsonic doesn't work on the local server? You can or can't see the open port from canyouseeme.org?

You followed the instructions to MANUALLY set the port forwarding and it didn't work?

You've had someone use your external ip address:port# from outside and they can't connect?

Or do we just assume all of the above? Or maybe you didn't install it?

Some more information:

The subsonic server works fine on the local network. I followed the directions in the tutorial and I still get an error saying, "Port forwarding disabled" from within network settings in subsonic.

Canyouseeme.org can't see my open port.

When I have someone use my external ip:port# from outside it says "Cannot connect."

when you switched routers your external IP may have changed as well, if it works on local network then all is fine and means your router is blocking those ports. Do you have a router behind router? you should be abel to contact the routers tech support to help you configure your ports. you should have tcp and udp rules for the ports. Do you try with external ip eg...10.10.23.27:8080. If that does not connect per say then the router is most likely the cause.
http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ use this to check if the port is open that you decide to use. Until this program says its open, then its not and you need to figure out how to open it.

It turns out Windows 7 decided to block 4040 and 8080 all of the sudden. Once that was changed in the Windows firewall, everything was fine. Thanks for all of your input!
