My set up:
Currently my subsonic server is set up on an old computer
operating system-windows xp
RAM-256 mb
Processor- 665 mhz pentium III processor
My network card says it gets 100mbs
My ISP gets about 5Mbs upload speed and 25 Mbs Download Speed
20gig harddrive
I have a 500 gig external harddrive plugged into a usb port- I think its a 1.1 and if I'm correct that is about 15mbs transfer speed
I converted my video files to mp4 so transcoding isn't an issue and I moved the index files to the front of the file.
All of my files are on my external harddrive.
At this point I am able to fluidly stream 600 kbs video and 160kbs audio over the internet when the video file is around 680 megabite size. This is barely acceptable for video viewing on a computer.
However when I stream a smaller file that is about thirty Mb I can get about 2000kbs. Is there anyway for me to get 2000kbs for anysize file?
I dont think there are any bottlenecks on my setup since I can get 2000kbs on smaller files unless its a ram issue. And finally I am also having some troubles streaming video where the transfer rate will drop off completely and not resume again. Is there anyway to combat that?
And the final final thing is I'm not very computer literate. So try to use small words
Thanks in advance for any help.
