OK - Now we need to add an inbound rule on the router forwarding 4040 to the internal ip where SS is hosted.

Read page 5-7 of the manual.

http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/ ... 3Jun05.pdf

Add a new rule "Subsonic" on TCP 4040 and send to 192.168.1.X your server internal ip.

Set WAN Users to ANY

and set the start "Send to LAN Server to the internal ip of your Subsonic host PC.

Once you've done that, then go to http://canyouseeme.org and test port 4040 to see if it's open.

Is the internal ip the static ip i set?

Ive basically in services forwarded port 4040
Then in firewall rules. Inbound. I put in drop down the 4040 i entered in services then allow always then put in my static ip which is 192.168.0.104 for lan and the same for wan. Everythings on always.

You should open a command prompt on the host and type ipconfig /all to see all the ip settings for the server. Look for the ipv4 address. You may need to scroll up the window to see the entry.

Click the Start button, Run then enter cmd and press enter.

Edit: You probably shouldn't be setting a static route, but instead using address reservation for the server.

"Static Routes provide additional routing information to your router. Under normal circumstances,
the router has adequate routing information after it has been configured for Internet access, and
you do not need to configure additional static routes. You must configure static routes only for
unusual cases such as multiple routers or multiple IP subnets located on your network."

You should delete any Static route entries you've made.

For now, just use whatever address the server is at and test from cnayouseeme.org.

Then your port forwarding rule is not set up properly in the router. You have to get this right or it won't work.

If Subsonic is responding internally on port 4040, it will respond when it gets a request from outside sent from the router. If you can reach it from inside, but you can't get to it from canyouseeme, then the router is not forwarding the request to the server.

It's just that simple.

You have to get the forwarding rule entered correctly in the router or it will never work.

On the Inbound Services screen you need to make a new service for Subsonic, define the TCP port (4040) then in the Send to Server entry put in the internal ip of the Subsonic host.

WAN Users = Any

Nothing gets entered in Start/finish blocks - they should be greyed out. Click Apply

Then retest.

Did you even read my previous entry?

WAN = Any

DO NOT enter anything in the start finish blocks - they should read 0.0.0.0
