Now lets talk about the USB drive if you've confirmed you can access the site from the web.

If we really need to we can set it up on the 3700, but life will be a whole lot better for both of us if you can just plug it into the host PC where SS lives. If it's on the local machine it will also run faster.

im going to an old trusty restart as well see if that helps ;0

Did you even read my previous entry?

WAN = Any

DO NOT enter anything in the start finish blocks - they should read 0.0.0.0

Im sorry. Thats was my problem. Ive been this for nearly 8 hours and thats just today.

NP - I'm also working with others at the same time and I didn't get enough sleep last night. It is really important though, that you read carefully and we both stay on the same page.

Now, is there a reason you can't just use the usb drive on the local machine, it's going to be much faster if it's connected directly to the Subsonic host machine.

No - it will be faster connected to the host machine as that's what repies to the request for the media. Set up the other way the server would have to transfer from the drive to the router over the network and then send the same data back out through the network to the router.

Connected to the host it just reads from the drive through the usb port and sends it to the router.

OK - Local host is connecting, and Canyouseeme says the port is open, but nothing else can see Subsonic?

Send me a PM with the EXTERNAL ip and port number so I can see if the logon page answers.

You said earlierthat you got a reply fromn canyouseeme. If it no longer works then you internal ip must have changed or the forward rule has been altered. If it worked once - that's the only explanation. Go back to the host and verify the ipv4 internal address.

I'm assuming you didn't change the port number of course.

So what changed? Are you confirming that you once saw the port as open from canyouseeme.org, but now it's closed, but nothing has been changed?

NP - Take a break and give your brain a rest. after a day or two reread the Tutorial and give it another go. You've been over all the ground you need to cover so I'm confident you'll put it together.

HINT: Until you set up the Server.subsonic.org name just enter your external IP:port# into any browser outside your network and see what happens!

Best of Luck

Let us know when you get hooked up.
