Random playlist issue

Postby xefil » Thu Sep 27, 2012 10:30 am

Hello to all!

I've a little issue with the "Random Playlist" option. If I select 10 songs (random playlist) of a genre the generated playlist is empty. It happens only with some genres. I'ts possible I've corrected in the past some genres. Possible they are still there and choosing them there are no music files of the selected genre? Could I rebuild the genre list? I've tried the clean-up database and a rescan of the media folder, but the drop-down window still contain these genres.
Seems happens only for multi-genre. like selecting "Dance;House" but it works well for "Dance".
Or the genre drop-down still contain genres I've removed from the server, or the playlist cannot be created with genres containing a ";".
I haven't find a search-song-by-genre to be sure there are songs of this genre.

Thank's for support!

Self solved:

I've noticed all files with genres containing symbols like ";" or "\" are not extracted on the random playlist generator.
I've used a batch script to crrect all genres and now it's working.

A bug?

It would appear that although the "-" problem has been fixed, other issues do remain.
The use of ";" to seperate fields in multi-item lists within ID3 tags is used by a large number of media organisers/taggers.
As this issue does not arise in 4.6 then I would say BUG
Also other characters cause issues eg ' , ie: I cannot get a playlist with the genre "70's"

I also noticed that I had 2 broken image links on the "MORE" page.
It would appear that the image source links have a preceding "/" on the web-apps and mini-sub png icons which are not reqd.
I edited my more.jsp and they now display ok

Everyone is entitled to be stupid, Image but some abuse the privilege!

Due to the confusion from too many genres of music, we have decided to put both country music and rap music into the genre of Crap music.
