Song Stop

Postby Darkurvar » Mon Oct 01, 2012 9:45 pm

First I want to say that I have really enjoyed this software and continue to use it on a daily basis between my Android Phone and using at in the browser.

I have found an issue that I have not been able to solve myself or find a solution in the forums. Not saying there isn't one, I just couldn't find it.

I have found that when I start playing a song let it play for a few seconds and then change to a different song. If I change back to the first song, it will not play again, until I reboot the server *sometimes I can just restart the service.

I have been seeing the issue since 4.6. I first thought it was a Java 7 issue but I have uninstalled both Subsonic and Java and reinstalled Java 6.35 on the server and installed Java 6.35 on the machine that is playing back, with no change. I am currently on 4.7 with Java 6.35

Thank you for the help and the continued work on this great software.

Is this with the SS web browser or the Android client?

I just tested for this on my Madsonic installation to see if I could reproduce the problem. I can switch repeatedly between tracks without any problems.

I'm running the WAR version of Madsonic on Tomcat on Java

Version 4.7 (build 3148) – October 4, 2012 – (Moded by MadEvil)
Server Apache Tomcat/6.0.35, java 1.7.0_05, Windows Server 2008 (95.8 MB / 226.6 MB)

Your Java seems a bit dated. You might consider an update.

Subsonic on Windows is pretty stable. I see a lot of reports from users having issues that I don't get. I'm not sure why that is as I'm not a particularly lucky person.

I always recommend taking your time doing the install and not have other stuff going on while doing install/upgrade. That's usually when things get screwed up. I really like the WAR version, but it can be a bit more complicated to set up if your not familiar with all the steps and setting up SSL is definitely harder.

The Windows setup.exe is very straightforward and should be virtually error free if you use the latest Java and the latest Sunsonic versions.

It's usually pretty easy to copy the C;\Subsonic directory to a backup location and do a clean install of Java and Subsonic. You can then test to see if the default install works properly. Once verified you can then stop the service and recopy the original C:\Subsonic directory back to the root location, restart the subsonic service do a rescan of your library, and if there wasn't any corruption of the data directory, you should be good to go.

I am running the same version of java as you (which by the way GJ is the latest 1.6 release)
I cannot reproduce that problem but I do notice a bit of a delay before the "old" song starts playing again.
I suspect part of the issue may due to the browser/flash cache resuming the download.
What browser are you using?
Note I am using chrome - try SS with that and see if that works

I will try the WAR version. I had my Java updated to 1.7 but rolled back to see if my problem was related. I will let you know what I come up with on the new install.
