Hi MadEvil,

I started to test Mod 4.7 (build 3148SE) 2 days ago in a "non-productive" environment.
The main reason was that I liked Version 4.7 for it's speed but as long as the main branch takes albumartist for search and tracklisting I cannot use it.

I like the mod very much and think it is spendid work, especially that it keeps up to date with the main branch.

After testing for some hours I just want to list some problems and requests, that came up.

Problems:

1. If I directly switch to a special letter in the left frame index, the view does not jump to the headline of this letter but just a little
bit further of the first entry of that letter, so that entry can only be seen half.

2. The sorting of the albums obviously is by year and I cannot find an option in the settings to change this to alphabetical. I can understand
that a lot of users do want it just like that but it is not very useful for me. When I am looking for a special album in the album-listing I am
looking for the name of the album. If there are many albums of one artist it takes some time to find it. It's really bad with the Album-Artist
"Various Artists" and more that 200 albums to look over.

Requests and recommendations:

1. You placed the seach-field in the left instead of the top-frame. This is not generally a bad idea but there is the problem, that the serach
field vanishes out of the view if you use the scroll-bar. In my opinion the search field should always be in the view. Perhaps there is a way
to lock the search field so that using the scroll-bar does not afflict its view.

2. You added some options in the settings but I still miss some options that made it necessary for me to edit the code and produce my own mod
each time there was a new version of Subsonic. It would be desirable for me to have more options in the user settings or more possibilities to
differentiate between users and Administrators, not so much in rights what to do but in things they can see in the top frame.

Thanks for your effort to make Subsonic even better

as default in subsonic 4.7 Playlists are saved to the database and the first Playlist import path is hard coded :?

Code: Select all
c:\playlists

you can not change this from the interface, but you can edit it in the subsonic.properties file

Code: Select all
PlaylistFolder=c\:\\playlists

best regards

I'm getting the 'Failed to find parameter: httpSessionId' error when launching it via subsonic.sh running on Mac OS 10.8.2

EDIT: For somewhat reason it suddenly works.

Thanks Gary J for the FLAC fix. I downloaded the file from your skydrive and added the transcode. Works great!

Glad to hear it worked. I've done a lot of trial and error over the last couple years and can't tell you why these particular builds seem to fix some problems that the newer ffmpeg builds have trouble with, but it's nice to have them around when something doesn't work as planned.

Sorting out the transcoding and which versions of ffmpeg work best in a given environment is probably the most time consuming and confusing aspect of getting Subsonic working with certain file types. I have found that certain avi video files will only work with certain ffmpeg builds and won't run on the latest builds.

It can drive you crazy for sure.
